I scored 4 and I teach IGCSE students! Not History though.

I scored 4/7 too, but a couple of the British references were beyond my ken.

Ironic that the one I got wrong was the one about Rab Butler - not only do I owe a huge amount to his reforms of the education system but he was chancellor of the university I went to and handed me my degree certificate!

Well, I got 6 out of 7, though my answer about names for German Jews was a lucky guess. Apart from the restriction of the German army to 100,000 men, I had no idea of the Versailles provisions about German armed forces.

That particular question - about the (generally) additional names for German Jews from 1938 on - was hard. It was very much a matter of 'either you know it or you don't'.

As for the question Flopsy mentions, it depends on the definition of 'the 11+', as all local authorities of county or county borough status had some scholarships (by examination) to grammar schools long before 1944 and usually at about age 11. The same exam was normally used for kids whose parents were willing to pay the fees. However, unlike the 11+, only those kids whose parents and/or teachers entered them for it actually took it: it wasn't taken as a matter of routine by everyone.

5/7, but one of them I got because of this discussion, so it doesn't really count.

No need to sigh. The questions were based on a British exam. I wouldn't expect people abroad to know who R. A. Butler or the 1944 Education Act were.

Wasn't R.A. Butler once said to be the best Prime Minister, Britain never had?

Yes. He was witty and brilliant, but a bit shy and lacked charisma. He was never PM for a lot of reasons. (Churchill didn't like him for a start)
I heard him address the Cambridge Union when he was High Steward. It was a memorable experience.

I only mustered 2/7, but I have never been to Britain, nor studied a lot of British history.

Only scored 2 as well. The only question I knew for sure was the additional names for German Jews. I had heard/read it at some point.
