KrivoyRog finishes this season with back-to-back weekly wins .. and jumps onto the podium to finish the season in third place, his highest position all season. Two rounds ago he was 11 points behind third place!

The other weekly winner was srini701, who finished in 5th place, a new high for the season. George95 completes the trifecta; he finished in 4th place, which was his high for the season. Sypher collected the wooden spoon with 0/8.

Real Madrid equalised deep into injury time, in the 93rd minute, to send the match into extra time .. there were 90 seconds left on the clock! Sypher was one of 5 players who had Atletico to win the match i.e. he would've avoided the golden wood .. and this is what the standings looked like with 91 seconds to go:

As was the case with the FA Cup last weekend, it was a curious finish to this tipping comp .. no-one in the top 10 kept their spot from the second last round. I don't think we've had a comp where all three podium spots changed with 90 seconds of the season remaining. As the honourable Agent 86 would say: missed it by that much.

Everyone had a weekly win or a wooden spoon alongside their name (active players only), which means there are no spoon-less streaks carrying over to next season. Best spoon count was ozzz2002 and wwe84, who dead-heated with 6 each. Best weekly wins was Dizart and gtho4, with 5 each, and Dizart finished with the best countback figures. KrivoyRog and wwe84 were the only players to reach double digits for bonus points.

The win by Real Madrid was their 10th title, three more than AC Milan. Bayern Munich and Liverpool follow with 5 apiece, Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam with 4 each, and then Manchester United and Inter Milan with 3 each (these eight clubs have won 41 of the 59 finals).

The defending titleholder was gtho4 (Dizart won it the year before). That's it for another year. Thank you everyone for playing. We now have a four month break until mid-September, when we're back at the starting gates for the 2014-15 comp. Congratulations to the three medallists and commiserations to the rest of us!

In the interim, we'll see most of the FAPL and ECL players in the World Cup, starting Thursday 12th June .. less than three weeks away.
