Twenty20 Champions League 2013 in India, September 17-October 6The Fifth edition of the T20 Champions League cricket takes place in India this year between September 17 and October 6. You don't need any cricketing know-how to take part in this slam-bang comp. All we do is toss a coin (or throw a dart) and pick the winners for each match. No bankers to pull you down, but bonus points if you are the sole tipper of a match. Best of all, it's not a long competition and it's all over in less than a month. illiniman14 is the defending champion in our comp and previous winners include gtho4 (2009), paper_aero (2010) and Sypher (2011). Ozzz2002 has been on the podium two years running now. Can he make it 3 podium finishes in a row this year? Put your name down here if you would like to take part so I know you will be there. ****************** Format: Qualifiers: Kandurata Maroons (Sri Lanka); Otago (New Zealand); Faisalabad Wolves (Pakistan); Sunrisers Hyderabad (India) Main tournament: 2 groups of 5 teams playing each other in league format (10 matches per group) followed by semis and finals. Group A: Rajasthan Royals (India); Mumbai Indians (India); Lions (South Africa); Perth Scorchers (Australia); Qualifier 1 Group B: Chennai Super Kings (India); Titans (South Africa); Brisbane Heat (Australia); Trinidad & Tobago (West Indies); Qualifier 2 Note: Defending Champions Sydney Sixers did not qualify for this edition, while England pulled out altogether

I'm in, looks like a lot more new faces than usual this year in the competition. As I was preparing the posts I realized most of last year's teams are out! And I have NO clue about this year's teams (other than the Indian ones) ...should be a crazy and open comp, as usual

10 of us have returned for the latest edition of the Champions League T20. This is one tipping comp we have been managing to have ever since the competition's inception No-shows from last year are doomed, LeoDaVinci and N-Bomb.
Defending champion illiniman14 is off to a flier along with Howie72. Both picked 5 of the 6 qualifiers and also snagged a bonus point each for their efforts.
srini701 landed a spoon with 5 others, but had the consolation of winning the first sole pick bonus for this year
Otago Volts won all 3 of their matches and have stretched their T20 winning streak to 13 consecutive matches now! Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first two matches and the main tournament will now have 4 Indian teams, while Sri Lanka and Pakistan will have no representation this year.

Brisbane Heat twice failed to chase low scores, Rajasthan Royals continue to win at their home, Sunrisers Hyderabad surprised Trinidad & Tobago and Chennai Super Kings easily chased down a massive score. Two matches (at the same venue on the same day) were totally washed out. That, in a nutshell was our first round here.
Have decided to award 1 point to everybody for the washed out matches. srini701 and BxBarracuda picked the rest of the lot to vault to the top.
Howie and wwe84 picked only a solitary match each this round and took home the spoons.

Other than the 2 spooners (gtho4 and wwe84), everybody landed a bonus point this round for perfect or near-perfect picks as we picked over 81% of the matches!
srini701, george95 and Howie72 take the honors for the round. There's still nothing to separate paper_aero, ozzz2002 and Sypher after 3 rounds, as the 3 men continue to sail in the same boat despite having different picks!

One match was washed out this round, reducing the numbers of scoring matches to 6...gtho4 picked all but one to win the round's honors and a bonus point for his effort.
wwe84 decided to complete this year's tournament all dressed in red as he picks up a fourth spoon in a row, but he at least has the satisfaction of winning a sole pick bonus for picking Trinidad to beat a rampaging Chennai Super Kings.
That last result means Rajasthan Royals, who have been unbeaten at home for over 13 matches now, hosts Chennai Super Kings in the first semi-finals, while a resurgent Mumbai Indians  takes on Trinidad & Tobago in the other semi-finals at Delhi, both on Friday, October 4.

Rajasthan Royals defended their fortress of Jaipur in the semifinals against Chennai Super Kings, but once they stepped out of it, they were mere mortals in the finals! Despite a spirited chase, they were always going to fall short if there was one tight over. Mumbai Indians put up a massive 200 on the board and succesfully defended it, completing a "double" of both IPL and the Champions League for 2013
srini701 became the fifth different winner of this competition here by picking the last round, along with four others.
illiniman14 was one of the 5 who picked the last round and he pips BxBarracuda for the second spot on tie-break (more HoFs). BxB would have won the title outright if his pick of Rajasthan had come off...but it didn't, so he settles for the bronze this year
After a spoon in every round so far, wwe84 did NOT finish the comp with one! paper and ozzz shared the spoon for the final round and finish a listless comp for themselves.
Thank you all for playing this short, snappy tournament. Hoping to see all/most of you when the season-long World Cricket tipping comp begins again in November...
