The other day I reset my firefox as it kept becoming unresponsive. Since then I have an annoying, for me, little problem which surely must be easy to fix, if only I knew how!

As I look at the screen, at the very top is the heading "New post - Discussion - Mozilla Firefox"; then the row which says File, Edit, View etc; under that is my row of tabs (I normally have four or five open); then is the address bar with the url then at the bottom is my bookmark bar with the sites/pages that I want quick access to.

Now my annoying problem is that before the reset the row of tabs were at the bottom with my favourites immediately above that with the address box above that, then above that was File, Edit, View etc. So how can I get back to my original with the tabs at the bottom of the top and the favourites above that?

Newer Firefox versions (I think since 17) have this layout as a default.

You can change it back, but Mozilla themselves explain it better than I can:

Thanks Wesley, I will try to persevere with them on top but at least now I will know how to change it if necessary.

Many thanks.

Having a problem with the international games. I use Firefox as my first option, but it frequently crashes in the international (4 country) games. Either it refuses to load or it chucks a fruity in the middle of the quiz.

Is there any adjustment I can make, or will I simply have to remember to play through a different browser?

Make sure your Adobe Flash is up to date - https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

That should be your first step.

Does it crash during quizzes, when you choose the "Play: Quiz Game" option (or mash-ups)?

Yes, happened on the old laptop too. Now on Windows 8, totally uptodate Adobe Flash (just confirmed it). Occasionally loads and works correctly, but more commonly crashes just after I press start (that is once I'm in the quiz), or when I load a new question part way through. The only way back is to restart Firefox and get into FT via the homepage. For this reason, I've played the international games very rarely over the past few months.

Windrush, I play International games on either Chrome or Opera (Opera is my first choice) with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps it's time to switch completely and be done with Firefox...it seems quite problematic in so many ways.

I use FF and have never had an issue with the flash version quizzes...FF is one of the least problematic browsers as a whole.

windrush, do you have any add-ons that might be interfering? Try turning off/disabling all add-ons and see if it works. If it does, enable them one by one to see which was causing the issue.

Try making sure hardware acceleration is turned off. You can find how to do that in the second section here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/adobe-flash-plugin-has-crashed

Does it crash on Youtube, when trying to watch a video? Any other sites? Or is it only happening on FT?

Thanks both. I might look at Opera, although Firefox is the preferred vehicle for the government websites which I use a lot.

Because it's a brand new machine I can't think of any add-ons - I've kept to the basics so far. I have only seen this message on the international games so far. Not ever on any other sites.

I'll try your suggestion for turning off acceleration

Thanks once again. If it continues to happen I'll switch my browser.
