Since I started grade 11, I've been stressed soo many times and I hardly ever find myself not stressed from school. My stress ends up turning into tension which builds in my shoulders and cause me to slouch-I've mentioned this in a post before. Can anyone sugguest any great tips to get rid of or deal with stress? Somethings that I used to do was metating which helped a tiny bit and I still cry if I'm too stressed-which really helps because I let out all the stress all out at once.

When I was your age (a long time ago now, to be sure) I always found that physical exercise was a good way to get rid of stress and tension. I'd go for a long walk, a run or ride my bike around town. Sometimes I'd play softball and by having my mind on the game the things that were causing the stress would go to the back of my mind. It's worth a try, and I can say that it did work for me.

Yes, I was going to suggest exercise, too! Not a lot! Even walking! Swimming, as suggested before, would be great! Another thing you can do it make lists! It sounds silly, maybe, but if you just take maybe ten minutes to itemize that which you have to accomplish that day (or try to), your mind will be a lot clearer. You can also cut backon committments that you absolutely do NOT have to do. And never be pressured by anyone into saying "yes" if you mean "no"! It takes awhile to acquire that skill, but it can be done!

How did the play go, by the way??? [Smile]

Laughter works for me. I've got a 'Fawlty Towers' tape. Whenever I feel down or stressed I watch an episode of that. I've watched it many times now but it still raises a laugh no matter what. I find that I can't feel stressed and laugh at the same time.

Do you have anything that invariably makes you laugh? If so you could give it a try.

I used to play the piano whenever I felt stressed. It really works for me! Too bad my piano is at my parents´ house now, since it doesn´t fit in my room... [Frown]

I spend time watering and generally tending to all of my many many many plants. I find it extremely soothing... both to touch the lovely cool leaves and the smell of the damp compost.

Also the sheer number of them means that my break from whatever it is that is stressing me can get quite long! Nice one...

The list thing works for me--I'll actually create entire schedules when I'm really busy. Schedule fun stuff in between, like a trip to the mall with friends or watching your favorite show...you won't feel guilty because you'll still be "on schedule." It works for me!
