My husband's birthday is on Monday. He goes to university and I only work part-time, so our budget is limited. Does anyone have any good but inexpensive ideas for gifts or treats on his birthday? Or does anyone know any recipes that are not too expensive to make? I would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks [Cool]

Tell us more about him - hobbies, interests, activities, etc. It's hard to give suggestions just out of the blue!

You could always do a really nice meal for him. I know someone that fixed a prime rib (if you shop around, you can get good buys on the meat), fresh vegetables, homemade bread, and a homemade keylime pie (my mouth is watering right now!). That with candlelight and soft music is always a winner.

But, you need to tell us more about him for us to give you specific things you could do/buy.

About my husband:

Well, he's a med student who loves basketball, especially the Timberwolves. He likes to read science fiction and he loves dogs. His favourite kind of music is ska.

Oh, easy then. Get great tickets to the basketball game.

Or, even better, get some kind of "behind the scenes" tour of the place - maybe the locker rooms and other areas of wherever they play. Perhaps, if you play your cards right, you could even have one of the players there to show him around. I know they do that kind of thing in theaters a lot of times.
