Not sure if I should post this here or in "I need an answer"! But I can't seem to find anyone who can help me with this pool problem! Maybe there are some pool experts here and can shed some light! My pool water keeps staying green (a CLEAR green, it's tinged with green)- there is NO algae on the sides or bottom, nothing like that. I've shocked the pool over and over, I put TONS of chlorine in it, I dumped a bottle of algaeside(sorry, no idea how to spell that!) in it, I've gotten my filter cleaned out, I've gotten new insides to the filter, I've gone to pool stores and tried all sorts of various chemicals - but the pool stays green....

I don't know, but it sounds very pretty. Are you sure you want to get rid of it?

Hmmm, perhaps Tips and Tricks might be the right spot for this.

Well, a pool is the same as a garden pond in principle and although I prefer to use adequate plant life to maintain a natural balance and keep the water clear, there are other methods available.

You could either install an ultra violet device between the pool and the filter. Another alternative is to use a relatively new device which transmits radio waves and works, I think, on the principle that the alternating current actually stops the particles of algae grouping together, and kills it off.

Good luck!

Hi Samantha.....We had the same problem in our pool last year, and I did all the stuff you are now doing, also to no avail. In desperation I eventually called our local pool company and the guy came out, said "yep, that's algae alright", and plopped a whole load of gunk in the pool which mysteriously cleared it overnight. I think they know something we don't [Eek!] Maybe it's time to call in the professionals!
Not much help really I'm afraid, sorry [Confused]

Is this a new swimming pool? If so, the green color may be a perfectly natural reflection of sunlight or the composition of the pool itself.
Dip some water out in a glass container and let it set for a half-hour then compare it to a perfectly white background; if it doesn't appear green, then it's probably the composition of the pool that makes your pool water appear green.
