This should be a very easy question for you soccer fans(gtho4 where are you).

What country has played in the most World Cup games without a victory?

hiya CrazyCanuck, greetings from down under! ok here goes (World Cup finals series, excluding qualifying games):
  • Bulgaria from 1930 to 1990 inclusive played 16 games without a victory, but this could be 17 if they drew their first game of the 1994 tournament
  • South Korea from 1930 to 1998 inclusive, have played 14 games without a victory
As Bulgaria have now had a victory -> South Korea?

Sorry for the late reply gtho4, I forgot all about this question. You, however, are on the ball. South Korea it is!

Surely, if Bulgaria played 16 games without a win and South Korea played 14 Without winning, the answer has to be Bulgaria.

a fan of Leeds United who actually lives near Elland Road, man welcome aboard! brother are you welcome in this place; guys he's made his first post, stand aside, my shout, I gotta buy this man a beer! There are a few others in this place from England, but they're Arsenal or Spurs supporters. Hi Sypher!

I've been following Leeds since the late 60s, back in my youth at High School: Sprake, Reaney, Cooper, Bremner, Charlton, Hunter, Lorimer, Clarke, Jones, Giles, Gray, all internationals, with a few more on the bench. The only time I've seen them play was in 1980 when I was in England, we lost 0-3 at Stoke. Were you at the Sheffield United game when we last won the championship? Harry's been copping a bit over here with no shows for Australia in internationals but from looking at the lufc.co.uk home page it seems every one over there is well aware of it!

I can still remember like it was yesterday the game at Molineux on the Monday after the cup final when we lost 2-1 and missed the double, but .. Jones down the right crosses back to the middle from just on the goal line and Clark dives and the header goes in!! Yea!! And that awful loss to Sunderland in 73, I'm visualising Lorimer's ferocious shot hitting the cross bar again off Montgomery's hand ... how did he dive down to parry that shot onto the crossbar. It is just sickening, even after all these years.

Watched the game at Anfield live the other day, yuk, We lost! Last one I watched live was a cup game at home against Wolves a while back, and we lost that too. Whenever I watch the game live we lose, so I try and avoid that and watch the replays!

Your're brand new to these boards and you'll have to get used to our friends from North America. CrazyCanuck's question was which team hadn't won - winless - so it's right. The question wasn't the longest run without a win. Moot point but you'll get used to it, just like you'll get used to reading the dates on posts backwards (go to Feedback and add your point of view on dates and times). If you scroll back thru the posts in Sports Trivia you'll find a few posts on UK soccer (it's not called football in Australia or North America). You'll find one humdinger I thought no-one would answer, but our friend from Canada got it!

sports trivia question name the first English team to have played in both domestic cup finals FA Cup + League Cup and all three European cup finals European Cup + CupWinners Cup + Fairs Cup/ UEFA Cup (played in those 5 finals not won those 5 finals). If u know the answer be quick to get in b4CC.

This is a very friendly place where we don't take each other too seriously and we all have a lot of fun. FT is also known as a zoo from time to time. Welcome, again, to the zoo.

That would have to be The Mighty Whites, ending in the farcical refereeing decision in '75.
Elland Road (or The Church as we call it 'cos thats where we go to worship) is only about 5 miles away so making the pilgrimage is much easier for me. Spurs tomorrow then the BIG ONE next Sunday.
Ya never know, we could be glorious in Europe again this season.
After all, we owe Roma one for last season.

Just to answer some more of your questions:-
Yes, I was squeezed into the away supporters end at Bramall Lane in April '92.
What an all round perfect day.
Ian Rush scored his first ever goal against them (sorry, I can't bring myself to say their name) to win us the last ever First Division Championship.
It's not, however the best game I've been to.
Beating Bournemouth in '90 to win the 2nd Division Title was a better feeling. As was the week before when Gordon Strachan struck the winner against Leicester with only 3 minutes to go. Martin Hodge, the Leicester 'keeper said that the game should have been stopped there and then because of the way the ground erupted. He couldn't hear himself think after that.
As for Harry, you'd think the Australian F.A. would organise matches at better times. Surely they know that half their team is based in Europe and clubs who pay them enormous wages don't want to lose them for 2 weeks in the middle of the season and risk them getting injured just for some meaninless freindly. I know there is the matter of pride in playing for your country but things could be better organised on a worldwide basis. It's about time FIFA sorted something out.
Todays date is 11/2/2000 by the way. Or it is in England anyway.
Which soccer question did you mean?
Not that I've known any of them anyway.

We love you Leeds, Leeds, Leeds.

The directors at the Australian FA couldn't organise a chook raffle in a pub. Mark Bosnich said this in the early 90s:- organise oz internationals on the same days as European countries so that we don't get this club v. country rubbish. All clubs are releasing their players. Our directors still haven't worked out what that means! And we have almost three-quarters of our international team in Europe. Try this. A few years back our FA organised a friendly match oz internationals based overseas v. oz internatials based at home. Do you believe it! Yep, FIFA need to sort this mess out, but the administration down under just sux.

And I just love your story v. Bournemouth and Leicester! When the Bramall Lane match was one there was absolutely nothing here on radio or tv. I stayed up all Saturday night into Sunday morning. Nothing. So in desperation I got out my handbook and rang Elland Road. I was ringing the club, the office, the shop everywhere. In desperation I rang a (the?) restaurant and this guy answered the phone and i asked him if he knew the score! .. "yes, Leeds won, they're champions!". Ever jumped round your lounge room in the middle of the night all by yourself, thrown your fist in the air and thumped a couple of chairs!

When you log into this place there is a page that lists all the forum titles. When you go into Sports Trivia there is a list of topics. At the moment this topic is on top (most recent discussion) and the next one is WNBA. If you scroll down you will see one on the FA Cup. When you get to the bottom there s/be another one on UK soccer, and then at the very bottom you can click onto page 2 for more, and so on.
