Roger Bannister (now Dr) was the first athlete to run a mile in under 4 minutes (at Oxford on 06-May-1954 in 3:59.4) and the second athlete to do this was John Landy (at Turku, Finland on 21-Jun-1954 in 3:57.9). Who was the third athlete to do this?

Roger Bannister did again on Aug 7, 1954.
If your looking for the next person, Laszlo Tibori did it the following year (who beat out Chris Chataway and Brian Hewson, who also broke 4 minutes).

I think, I hope, I'm not really sure ... LOL

Here is the list of the 1st Sub-4 Minute Miles:
Roger Bannister 3:59.4 on May 6, 1954
John Landy 3:58.0 on June 21, 1954
Roger Bannister 3:58.8 on August 7, 1954
John Landy 3:59.6 on August 7, 1954 (2nd place)
Laszlo Tibori 3:59.0 on May 28, 1955
Chris Chataway 3:59.8 on May 28, 1955 (2nd Place)
Brian Hewson 3:59.8 on May 28, 1955 (3rd Place)

why am I not surprised CrazyCanuck has it! the third athlete was indeed Laszlo Tabori (that's how it's spelt on what I'm looking at ... luckily this wasn't a quiz question LOL!)
