So much for thinking I wouldn't have any yard work to do because I was moving to the desert.

I think it means that there's a cycle path 25 metres ahead.

Some of our cycle lanes where I live (Bristol, UK) are well thought out and safe to use but others are badly planned and/or maintained. One of the main problems I've found with any cycle lanes which run on the inside of major roads is that they're most likely to have potholes and drains which can force cyclist to take evasive action which can only mean swerving into the road. Most drivers will give cyclists plenty of room when they overtake, others seem to take sport from seeing how close they can get.
Bristol is quite a hilly city unlike London, Berlin or Manhattan for example, so that tends to put a lot of people off. It's also one of the most congested so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation I guess.
I have no pictures of cycle lanes to add...

Thank you martin_cube. So, It's a warning to car drivers that they may encounter cyclists ahead and nothing in the way of telling cyclists anything. Except, why would a cycling path begin 75 feet down the road from the start of the street? What are the cyclist to do in the intervening distance I wonder?
In Satguru's latest, what does the sign on the pole about twenty feet down the sidewalk and in front of the tree say? It looks like a camera in portrait position. Is that where photos are to be taken?

I think the sign actually means it's London Cycle Route 25, which coincidentally runs through Brixton.

Mehaul, the camera sign is to warn drivers that there are speed/traffic light cameras in the area. These automatically take the picture of any car that triggers them by exceeding the speed limit or jumping a red light, and you get a nice notice of how much the fine is through the post at a later date.

I stand (and am happy to be) corrected. (I'd like it to mean 'minimum speed for cyclists of 25 MPH. That would get the blood pumping! smile )
Still no photos to add....

Such wonderful photos everyone, and such variety! I've neglected looking here for too long and have been missing some gorgeous things!

Seems like forever since I posted anything here, too, but Precious has given me a look that says "Tell everyone how brave I was to go out in the snow today!" Here she is, trying to keep one paw warm (or possibly to levitate) smile

Thanks is given for the inputs on signage. I will try to capture some around here that might interest others.

We had some last week! It didn't stick around long, just for the day and not much longer than a couple of days on the hills.

Here's yesterday's painting...it's not as good as the last one but I'm still only learning. smile

Beautiful work, Dot!

Precious thanks everyone for their kind thoughts, and will make another appearance soon. Meanwhile, here is what it looked like not long before she ventured out.

When I lived in New Hampshire I used to get Liz's weather a day or so after she did. I'd send you our weather here if I could, LIz. smile It was about 16 C when I took this picture Thursday night of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas.

Why not follow the white-faced heron with another photo of a variable oystercatcher (the all black variety to celebrate the NZ rugby team going unbeaten in test matches this year).

Nothing at all wrong with that painting Dot, very effective and I'd certainly have it on my wall.

Howie: love all your bird pics. That's a very vibrant orange on the last one's bill!

CmdrK: we were in Vegas about a month ago, average temp was 78 F. My, what a difference a few weeks makes lol

Dot: Interesting texture in your painting. Did you use acrylics or oil?
