Railway
Remembrance Walls.
The bricks in these walls bear the names of some of the thousands of men who worked at the Midland Railway workshops. My father worked here for many years as a fitter and turner, but he does not have a brick in the wall because we were not aware of this project until it was too late to purchase one. But we have our name down for a brick if they decide to extend the wall at some point in the future.
The Midland Railway Workshops were the main workshops for the Western Australian Government Railways for over 80 years. They were a major employer and played a very big part in the history of Western Australia.
