If a hamper wasn't so bloody expensive to post! I posted a little parcel with a couple of thumb drives and little toy thing and a card and it was over $7 for that. shocked (although I always think of Billy Connolly . "deliver it yourself and see how much it would cost!"
He comes home for a weekend in a few weeks and we plan to send him back with a pile of stuff. smile

He's a growing young almost-teenager, copago, they never stop eating as far as I can see! Dunno where my boys pack it all away, but it's impossible to keep the cupboard stocked for more than two days in a row! Poor Conor, hope he lasts till his weekend home! (& I feel your pain for the hefty postal charges).

I gave my stuff an airing this evening, and made two cards. This one is for a photographer-friend's birthday next week:

Would have loved to have a "Have a snappy birthday" sentiment stamp, but instead I just printed it on the inside as the greeting/message.

Try sending him four packets of Tim-Tams and see how much that costs! (Just kidding, you're worth every cent - smilee)

Seriously though, Australia Post costs an arm and a leg. When I send packages to people, it almost always costs me twice as much in postage as the value of the contents.

I wonder why there are such huge differences between postal charges in various countries. Ours are dirt cheap (although locals complain when a local stamp goes up by HKC10.) A friend from UK who usually comes here for Christmas , brings her cards to post to UK from here as it is about half the cost.

I did feel a fair bit of guilt when I saw, MG!! shocked

There's lots of things on our ebay from China that are very inexpensive and then have free postage. It's cheaper to buy from there then to buy from an Australian shop!

Well, you shouldn't have! It was my idea and I got a lot of pleasure out of sending them to you.

There is ... he just has a horrible parents that won't give him oodles of money. wink
I thought $20 a week would be enough, turns out there is many kids that get much less. one kid in Conor's dorm gets 50$ for the term (10 weeks).

Another card for him.

$20 sounds like a lot of money for one week but I don't know the cost of things there.

I love the card.

Me too, I love your card. Your happy animals make me smile everytime I see them!

Tomorrow is St Valentine's I made this "arty" card to comply with three different challenges on various scrappy-forums. However, my eldest son saw it and thought it would (also) be perfect for him to give to his sweetheart (I guess it also meant he could save the euros he would have spent otherwise, haha) grin

Great card, Toni!

$20 is a lot for a week, now that I know :eyeroll: I should have talked to other parents first! Although there are some that get more a week too so he's probably somewhere in the middle really. He does have to get toiletries and school supplies himself too but that wouldn't count for much.

Loving all the cards smile I know I haven't posted many cards lately, but hopefully soon. Mum has got a new "toy" of a Spellbinder machine which embosses and die cuts too. Hopefully this will enhance our card-making - and photos! smile

Oh Jane, the slippery slope to an empty bank account! Embossing folders and dies, that can get costly. smile

laugh Me and Mum now know what others mean, when they say embossing folders and dies etc can come expensive laugh laugh
A homemade card for Mum made from a embossing folder, peel-offs, a handy sentiment and, finally, some gel pens to "colour-in" with!
