Is Dollis Hill the same as Dollis Hill Avenue? I used to live there way back when. :p If you had asked me what my address was I wouldn't have been able to tell you but as soon as I read it it jumped out at me.

One of our bores. It's getting pretty dry here at the moment so we are relying on these so much at the moment. The actual windmill isn't used any more but it solar powered.

A solar-powered windmill? How does that work?

The remains of the first Cadbury Crème Egg of the season. I don't think they have any calories at all. That's right. None.

Gosh, haven't had one of those in donkey's years! You're making my mouth water (even though I would probably find them too sickeningly sweet now).

Well, there aren't any calories in that picture, that's for sure (smilee)

I noticed the hot cross buns in the supermarket today. It's hard to get enthused about Easter treats when Easter is three months away and it is stinking hot outside.

Every couple of years I see a photo which is different from today, and whenever a local building becomes a demolition site I rarely remember what was there before. I wish I'd been so thorough before digital, although my video coverage is quite comprehensive from 2000 onwards and now made stills from those as well. Yes, Dollis Hill is that hill only, and all the roads are named after it including Avenue which runs parallel to Lane, which is the main road. My friend lived in the next in the row, Gladstone Park Gardens till about 15 years ago. It's quite a nice area round there.

I just had a look and have one picture of it, at the end by the park. That was a lucky one!

Loving all the pictures this month. Unfortunately it's been too wet for me to get out and about this month with my camera. When it has been dry I've been working. Drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark. frown

Here's a picture of the infamous "Devil's Rock" in Bucke Township, just five miles south of my hometown of New Liskeard, Ontario, Canada.
It is on Lake Temiskaming, the deepest freshwater lake in the world, which notoriety for was given in error to Lake Baikal in Russia.
In the late 50s, Jacque Cousteau came into this lake and just out from Devil's Rock, dropped a 2,000 metre(Yes...METRE.)winch cable ball into the water and was unable to find bottom. That's over TWO Kilometeres.
Fact or fallacy? Unfortunately, there's no official record of this but many people in the area still remember it well.

Great pics, especially that sunrise Copago!

Here's what it looked like as I walked out to do some grocery shopping this afternoon. What does not really show up it the way the wind was whipping the snow up and swirling it around!

SpanishLiz: yikes, you folks out east (and further) have had some crappy weather lately. We're currently in our typical "fooling you with nice weather right now, just wait til February" stage lol.

Mother Goose: if I didn't mention it before, I really enjoyed your zoo pix. Didn't seem to be a lot of "barriers" to inhibit picture taking. Which zoo is that again?

Mayneeyak: Hey! Welcome! That's a fabulous picture. It's often very difficult to instill a sense of "depth perception" with a camera. Lovely scenery!

This little hut is the Hamburg Rathaus (City Hall), built from 1886 to 1897 and located in the Altstadt quarter of the city centre. I wonder how long it would take to visit all 647 rooms though apparently there could be more as one was found by accident in 1971 while searching behind a filing cabinet for a document.

I haven't had the camera out much at all lately. It's been so grey and wet I haven't really been anywhere, and there is nothing much to take photos of at the moment, except rain, and then maybe a bit more rain.

Took lots of snowy pics today, but guess I'll post one of Precious, asking to be let back in (not so very long after asking me to take her out!) I'll see what I can do about posting to some of the other threads too.

Lovely Mayneeyak!

I'd want to be let back in too! Funny how different things can be, Liz! It is the total opposite for me today .. it's going to be 38* and we're spending it at the lake in the middle of nowhere (natch, it is the weekend afterall wink ) with a bunch of other people for Australia Day.

Hope all the other Australian's are having a peaceful and relaxing day.

Apologies from me . As Mod of Photo threads, I have been very remiss in posting. We have had exams and reports and stuff, so time is short. I will be back to normal (!@#$?) after CNY. Sorry all.

Our old metal gas mains have just been replaced by yellow tubes, this is the connection from the road to my house they completed yesterday, before they fill it in again.

Thanks, Jakeroo, I am glad you enjoyed the pictures. I love animals so whenever we travel, a trip to the wildlife parks and zoos are a must for me. The recent crop of pictures were taken at the Adelaide Zoo in South Australia. It is a lovely zoo and we were fortunate that we had the place to ourselves for two hours prior to the zoo opening because we had booked into a special panda tour. Only one other couple booked into that tour so we had the luxury of being able to take lots of photos without jostling for elbow room with hordes of tourists.

Here is another one especially for you - this is an Australian red-tailed black cockatoo. This little fellow took a liking to me and Maynooth and stuck like glue to us throughout our tour of the walk-through aviary. I really think he wanted us to take him home! And I would have loved to!
