The Poms have put up quite a fight in this one. They scored 8/296, with Eoan Morgan scoring a terrific 106 off 99 balls. Bell scored 68 and Buttler got 45 quick runs. Should be an interesting run chase.

The media cheese me off a bit .. the headlines just on the news about how England did well ... thanks to the Irishman Morgan. They can't resist a dig!
But I am looking forward to what I hope is a close finish!

Modified score is now 300. An interesting event where the fieldsman, Shawn Marsh, fielded a ball that was over the rope, whilst he was in midair. It was originally given as a two, but has been upgraded to a six.

It was originally given as a two, but has been upgraded to a six. I remember about 3 years ago, the ICC changed the playing conditions. We were sitting in a room in Ipswich, with Dave Orchard conducting a seminar, and telling us about it. The condition was changed because of an incident, once again at the Gabba, where the possibily was for a player to be quick enough to run up into the stands, jump in the air, and throw the ball back into the field of play so that a teammate could claim the catch. We all thought that this was a bit extreme at the time, but it's turned out to be not too far from the mark!

Harry Houdini would have been proud of that escape act. I wrote the Aussies off about 50 runs from home.

So are the Aussies 7-0 against England this year?

Yep. 5-0 in the Tests and 2-0 in the ODIs. There are still three more matches in that series.

I'll throw it out there now - I predict England will win one, maybe two of the T20s. Australia struggles in the 20-over game.

Australia struggles in the 20-over game. I hope so. We need Australia to lose, as we seem incapable of winning anything at the moment. Today was a humiliating defeat.

Which is more of a powerhouse when it comes to cricket...Australia or England? I don't remember seeing one go 8-0 on the other before...

In recent times, England has had the upper hand, winning the 2005 (2-1), 2009 (2-1), 2010-11 (3-1) and 2013 (3-0) series. In that time, Australia has won the 2006-07 (5-0) and 2013-14 (5-0) series.

Australia has announced the test squad for the the series in South Africa in February
George Bailey has been dropped
1:Michael Clarke(c) 2:Brad Haddin(vc) 3:Jackson Bird 4:Alex Doolan 5:James Faulkner 6:Ryan Harris 7:Mitchell Johnson 8:Shaun Marsh 9:Nathan Lyon 10:James Pattinson 11:Chris Rogers 12:Peter Siddle 13:Steve Smith 14:David Warner 15:Shane Watson Not happy that Bailey has been dropped. I think he brought a lot to the team that isn't seen in basic statistics. If it's the end of his career, then he can proudly point to his only series being a 5-0 whitewash of England, co-holding a world Test record for most runs off an over, and also being directly responsible for 10% of the total English dismissals for the series, having taken 10 catches. I really thought he should have been given another chance, but it seems that the thinking is leaning toward dropping Watson to 6 and batting Marsh at 3, or dropping Watson altogether and bringing in Marsh and Faulkner.

FWIW, there was a free live stream on Cricket Australia TV.
14 Tests were played in 2013, Australia won 5 out of 14, and Johnson played in the same 5 out of 14. I initially didn't agree with the verdict, but when you look at that, as well as the ODIs he played, then yeah, well done Mitch.
