The Poms have put up quite a fight in this one. They scored 8/296, with Eoan Morgan scoring a terrific 106 off 99 balls. Bell scored 68 and Buttler got 45 quick runs. Should be an interesting run chase.

I remember about 3 years ago, the ICC changed the playing conditions. We were sitting in a room in Ipswich, with Dave Orchard conducting a seminar, and telling us about it. The condition was changed because of an incident, once again at the Gabba, where the possibily was for a player to be quick enough to run up into the stands, jump in the air, and throw the ball back into the field of play so that a teammate could claim the catch. We all thought that this was a bit extreme at the time, but it's turned out to be not too far from the mark!

Historically, they are about even. In recent times, England has had the upper hand, winning the 2005 (2-1), 2009 (2-1), 2010-11 (3-1) and 2013 (3-0) series. In that time, Australia has won the 2006-07 (5-0) and 2013-14 (5-0) series.

Not happy that Bailey has been dropped. I think he brought a lot to the team that isn't seen in basic statistics. If it's the end of his career, then he can proudly point to his only series being a 5-0 whitewash of England, co-holding a world Test record for most runs off an over, and also being directly responsible for 10% of the total English dismissals for the series, having taken 10 catches.
I really thought he should have been given another chance, but it seems that the thinking is leaning toward dropping Watson to 6 and batting Marsh at 3, or dropping Watson altogether and bringing in Marsh and Faulkner.

14 Tests were played in 2013, Australia won 5 out of 14, and Johnson played in the same 5 out of 14. I initially didn't agree with the verdict, but when you look at that, as well as the ODIs he played, then yeah, well done Mitch.
