They set a good target for Australia to chase and they're 5 down now ... without wanting to jinx anything I think they're looking good.

You know what Australia does so well which might stuff it up tonight? To use a old and tired cliché .. they wag their tail. So often, in all forms, a couple of tail enders get a partnership going and it can change the whole game.

Didn't finally happen and England have a win for the season smile Well done, even if Australia rested at least 4 big players (Clarke, Watson, Haddin, Warner)

BTW, shortest reign as World no.1. India back as No. 1 (which they will promptly lose tomorrow when they lose again to New Zealand).

You all heard/read about the new proposals by BCCI, CA and ECB about revamping the ICC? What's your take on it?

I'd have commented sooner, but I've only just come round after fainting from shock.

Well done England - at last!

Good game though. Pity it finished at the exact same time as Wawrinka v Nadal!

Australia has beaten England again after winning the 1st T20 game in Hobart, Aaron Finch & Cameron White put on 104 for the 1st wicket

For the summer Australia leads England 10-1

On a bright note for England they did defeat Australia to win the womens Ashes

I'm wondering if the English can't play in the heat...Dalgleish said the two were about even above...

Historically, Dave.
Even thoughmost of the players in the ODI & T20 side didn't play the Tests, I think now that England just don't want to be here anymore.

And on another note, English coach Andy Flower has resigned (read - been tapped on the shoulder).

Not when they are getting their tails handed to them...I guess he resigned before getting fired (sacked).

Yep. That's the way they do it. The "tap on the shoulder" has happened to a few Australian players over the years, and England has finally worked out the theory behind it - it's better for the atmosphere as a whole for an incumbent to resign, rather than have the selection committee sack him. In Australia, it happens to players more than officials (Allan Border, David Boon, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh, Ian Healy and Ricky Ponting are the main ones that spring to mind).

I've read that Ashley Giles might be on the cards for a replacement. Please, please say it isn't true...

I won't be surprised if they convince Mr Flower to continue...I honestly don't think England is this bad...every team can only play in their backyard these days. Period. The very same New Zealand team beating India now were getting thrashed a year back in India! The same England team hammered the very same Australians a few months back!

Watch what happens when Australia play South Africa now. South Africa 2-0 in the 3 Test series smile

Edited to add: Just read that Flower has been offered a role to groom and teach leadership skills to English cricketers...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/714937.html

Second edit to add again: possible rivals to Ashley Giles for Flower's position:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/story/714975.html

If Kirsten takes up the job, it would be fantastic...just wish India kicks out Duncan Fletcher and get Andy Flower in his place instead frown
