The NRL (National Rugby League) will start on Thursday, March 6. If you wish to play, please stick your name on the list, and have a quick read through a few simple rules. - One point a correct pick, nothing for a loss. - One bonus point for a perfect score. - Default if you forget to pick, wooden spoon score. - Tiebreaker will be HoF v Spoons. Largest margin wins, or if the margin is equal, total HoF count wins. - Deadline is kick-off in the first game, usually 7:30pm on Friday night. It could be earlier, if the NZ Warriors have a Friday night game at home. - Latecomers will start on the same amount of points as the last-placed active tipster. Game 1 will be posted soon.

Welcome to the first round of the Australian rugby league season. Only ten tipsters fronted, but hopefully more will join as we go along. (Last year we had 19!)
There were a couple of 10/10 tips for us, but none of the other six games had more than a 50% strike rate. South Sydney beat the Roosters in the season launch, Canterbury's odds jumped all over the place pre-game, but one of their ex-players, Ben Barba, had a blinder for Brisbane. Penrith might be worth keeping an eye on this season as they clobbered the Knights, and Melbourne snuck home in their grudge match at Manly.
The two most unpredictable teams in the comp, Cronulla and NZ both went down, too. Last years easybeats, Parramatta, ran riot over the Warriors and the Gold Coast just beat the Sharks.
Three players managed to get 5/8 out of the round- Howie72, illiniman14 and N-Bomb and George95 landed the first spoon.
Oh, yeah, the Dragons won, too.

There were three close games, two of which were not tipped by the majority of us. The Melbourne v Penrith was the closest, but we all tipped it.
N-Bomb is off to the perfect start, with two HoFs in two weeks, while George95 has a pair of spoons.
Oh, yeah, the Dragons won again, too.

Quite a few close games this week with five decided by four points or less. West Tigers surprised almost everybody by toppling heavyweights, South Sydney, and the Warriors showed that they can win away from New Zealand.
ozzz2002 scored a rare HoF and hit the lead. BxBarracuda also got 6/8 and zoomed up to equal second spot.
N-Bomb tripped up and collected his first spoon .
The Dragons are unbeaten, as are Melbourne.

Three of the eight games did not get ONE correct tipster. Canterbury started the rot when they squeaked home over the Chooks, Gold Coast pulled off a huge upset in Melbourne and the Tigers roared against Manly. Parramatta stunned Brisbane in Queensland and only gtho4 dobbed that one.
BxBarracuda got a HoF, the third in a row, with 4/8 and doubled his lead over the rest of us. illiniman14 and George95 followed suit and moved up a bit.
ozzz2002 and Sypher went back-to-back on spoons. They were joined in the cutlery drawer by wwe84.

Melbourne have not been doing that well lately, but stormed back into form, toppling the Rabbitohs. Nth Queensland players are angling for Origin spots, and belted the Premiers. Manly won a last-gasp match against Newcastle and Parramatta ran how against the hapless Dragons. This comp is getting tougher and tougher each week!
Three of last week's leaders tipped a HoF with 6/8 and opened up a two-point gap. At the other end of the field, wwe84 also got his name in blue.
Howie72 and Sypher both slipped a little, with 3/8.

Only five games this round, because State of Origin is upon us- Game One kicks off in a couple of hours, and hopefully NSW can have a win over the Canetoads! The Roosters struck back after some rather ordinary performances and trounced ladder-leader, Canterbury. New Zealand showed that they do not have to be in Auckland to win a game. The Rabbitohs also returned to expectations against the Sharks, and Canberra upset North Queensland.
The main action at the top of the comp was HoFer N-Bomb swapping spots with spooner, George95 One went from first to fourth and the other one went the other way. Howie72 and wwe84 did a similar do-si-do, closer to the other end of the ladder.

North Queensland bounced back and walloped Melbourne, who had a few star players on the injury list. The Broncos backed up well after origin and beat Manly, and Souths beat the Dragons.
This week, we had TWO perfect scorers, with illiniman14 and George95 both getting a bonus point. These two blokes and now first and second on the table. N-Bomb and BxBarracuda both dropped off a bit.
