I wasn't even born until 1977, but I know several songs on the lists from before then. One of my favorites is Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat on the 1968 list...such a soothing song. I much prefer music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's compared to more modern music. I can handle some from the 90's, but get more current than that, and my dislikes far outweigh the likes.

I'm with you, Dave, although I have a few more years on the clock. The only song I know in the 2000 and 2006 list is 'Bloke'. smile

However, I know every song on the 1969 list.

I know more on the 1969 list than I do on both the 2000 and 2006 lists combined...zero on the 2006, and only #1 and #9 on the 2000 list.

The 1969 list, I have heard half of them...#1, #4, #6, #7, and #9.

Edit: I know half of the 1989 songs (#1, #2, #4, #5, and #9), and only two of the 1995 list (#4 and #9). All seven of them, I do like.

'Bloke' would probably not work outside Australia, because nobody would understand what it is all about. I mean, how do you define the word 'yobbo' properly? smile

I still find it sad that I know more songs from before I was born than after!

Granted, I only know two on the 1968 list, but six on the 1971 one? The 2005 list, I know ONE...and it is #10 (unless #9 is a remake of an old Hall and Oates hit)! A lot of the 1994 list played on the hit stations when I was in high school (ones I know are #2, #3, #6 (unfortunately - I changed the station when this one came on), #7, and #9).

Taking the list of #1 singles from here, thirty years ago, only "Say Say Say" and "Let's Go Crazy" I've not heard before. The other songs on this list, I've heard and like so many of them.

I like Joy by Apollo 100 as well.

Number nine on the 1984 list is good too...Hold Me Now.

I only recognize three songs of 30 newer than 2000...Ms. Jackson, I'm Like a Bird, and Suddenly I See, yet I know (and like) FIVE on the 1972 list (first three, then both # 8 and # 9)!!
