Indy (3-3) @ KC (1-5)
What's up with these teams? No defense and they can't seem to score. Manning, James and Harrison are some of the best at their positions, but they ain't showing it. Then you got Dick Vermeil and a system that doesn't seem to work. Green just does not have a great receiving corp. The Colts have problems losing to New England twice. And Mora's job is on the line. Injuries are not helping.
SF (4-1) @ Chicago (4-1)
Two surprising teams this year. Both getting it done on the defensive side of the field. Injury to Robinson will slow Bears down. Niners show no signs of slowing on offense. Owens is a stud.
Cincinnati (3-3) @ Detroit (0-5)
Lions are last defeated team. That's gotta suck. But Batch has been playing much better lately. The West Coast Offense is beginning to gel. But isn't that what the pre-season is for? John Kitna and Corey Dillon anchor a rather surprising offense for the Bengals. But their D is suspect.
New Orleans (3-2) @ St. Louis (6-0)
There is nothing suspect about the Nahwlins defense. But it's got a tough bill to handle this week. The Rams at home, in a dome, on turf. Yes, folks...the Rams are devilishly fast here. Marshall Faulk who? Trung Canidate steps in and fills in. Warner doesn't miss much. Can the NO offense keep up? Watch for the NO defensive line to pressure Warner early.
Minnesota (3-3) @ Tampa Bay (2-3)
Is that a cutlass going for Dungy's head? Great defense can't do it. Offense sucks. Even with Rob Johnson and Keyshawn Johnson (not related). Will Vikings find a balanced attack? They are suspect at running back.
NY Jets (3-3) @ Carolina (1-5)
Biakabutuka is injured. Carolina's run offense just went from worse to non-existent. What will the Jets do? Probably air it out and put in on the ground with Curtis Martin.
Jacksonville (2-3) @ Baltimore (3-3)
Defending champs hanging on. Injuries have really hurt the Jaguars. Baltimore's great D will show up as usual. Let's see if the offense does the same.
NY Giants (3-3) @ Washington (1-5)
Tony Banks? Rod Gardner? Stephen Davis? Are these guys really first string for any team? Yup. The Giants tenancious D led by Michael Strahan should be good here. And Kerry Collins does seem to get better. Now if they could only find some receivers.
Arizona (2-3) @ Dallas (1-4)
Seems Plummer and Boston are developing a relationship over in the desert. Nice offensive line there. D big ?. Dallas? Need we say anything?
New England (3-3) @ Denver (3-3)
Didn't think either team would look like this. Pats better without Bledsoe? Injuries are not treating Broncos well. This one is shaping up as a coaches battle. Can Belichick outwit Shanahan?
Oakland (4-1) @ Philadelphia (3-2)
The Raiders are a tough team with veteran leadership. D is a little suspect, though. Garner will fill in fine for Wheatley. Philly is an aggressive defense. See for lotsa blitzes. If Donovan gets time in the pocket...it's all over.
Buffalo (1-4) @ San Diego (4-2)
Flutie will have a fine game against former team. The Charger defense is quite good...again. But this time they have offense to match. LaDamian Thomlinson is having a fine showing. And Seau never lets up. The Bills...does four straight Super Bowl losses say something?
Miami (3-2) @ Seattle (3-2)
I just can't figure these two teams out. Holmgren should start Dilfer, but keeps going with Hasselbeck. Miami can't find itself...anywhere. Especially the endzone, very important to win games.
Tennessee (2-3) @ Pittsburgh (4-1)
The Bus has finally arrived. It'll be tough to stop him in the middle, but the Titans can. It'll be a defensive minded game. Time to find out if these two sorry offenses can generate heat. Should be a low scoring Monday Night affair.
