Just read the Times last weekend and they've forbidden a woman golfer from competing as she is overweight.
It didn't seem to affect her performance.
Anyone hear about it?
I can't recall her name though.

We had certain health restrictions written into the contract when I worked in the sports world for a very brief stint but I'm wondering if performance wasn't affected by the weight then why kick her out?

I haven't seen that particular article, but Laura Davies the top British lady golfer is not exactly a stick insect, but it hasn't stopped her from competing at the top level for many years.

I thought you might be able to answer it Andy! That'll be her. But the Times put it on the very front page!
She's apparently losing the funding too.
Many of the motorsports figures must agree not to drink, do drugs, follow a fitness program, and other sundry requirements but if their performances are good I cannot understand them kicking her out.

Which day's edition was it Heather? I can't see why they should ban her, seeing as she is the best lady golfer Britain has ever produced. The people who made this decision are British yes?

It would be the Saturday edition. I'll check it when I'm home as I'm not certain of the name. (Hope it wasn't the Telegraph I buy one or the other).
They had a front page mention and then an article about her.
It was the British team actually. They said she didn't fit into the program ideals and then they showed a picture of the top model competitor.

Now why aren't I surprised? The fact that she is a proven winner at her chosen sport and is liked and admired by most ordinary people, counts for nothing as long as she went to the right school and speaks with the proper accent no doubt.
Of course she wouldn't fit into the ideals. She wins.

Well it made me kind of ill, as she's probably around the weight of a male player and yet they don't apply the standards to them!
Sure she probably can't model their golf wear in commercial spots or anything but it seems petty of them.
Oh well it could be worse, at the Opera de Paris, they measure the girl's body and then the parents, I'd have to send in a body double or they'd overlook my child!
They even discriminate against potential body development!
