Gable had won 100 straight college matches and all his high school matches as well and two NCAA titles before he was defeated by Owings in his last college match. Gable went on to win many titles including the 1972 Olympics and in doing so was widely acclaimed as the most Outstanding Wrestler of that Olympic games.
