The USA Today and AP polls have come out once again this week, and have once again excluded my alma mater....the University of Utah. Of course those polls are subjective, subject to the whims of sports writers and college coaches who may have particular agendas they mean to satisfy. However, is it possible that they could do their homework prior to making their votes?

The Utes are 14-3 and ranked #20 on the RPI computer ranking system...and yet they have only 2 from 'others receiving votes' in both major polls. What gives? The 3 Utah defeats have come on the road to good teams...#9 (RPI rating) Alabama (#8 on both voting polls), #55 Utah State (record: 13-4) and #73 Arizona St. (11-7, recently defeated #5 Arizona). The Utes have quality wins over #15 Texas, #40 New Mexico and #63 San Diego State!

Ah well...I've had my chance to complain, and that was my objective...that feels much better.

Oh yes...one more P.S. Templar! Your Wols are currently 6-12 and ranked #109 on the RPI...I'm beginning to contemplate my week's vacation from editing in the general category!

My dear Jazz,

Talking of wols, something appears to have ruffled your feathers a tad old boy, settle down now, settle down, there's a good laddie.

When one looks at the Wols current standings, yes, they don't look so great, but one must also take into account that the Wols have a much better recent history in the NCAA finals than the Utah Pukes. So the Pukes are having a lucky run of things, but HAH, all lucky things must come to an end. Let's just see where the cookie dust crumbles at the end of the big tournie, ok there Jazzie-Boy?! (ooooooh, he's riling the Jazz up by talking to him in an all too familiar tone of voice).

Temple: Temple has five NCAA Regional Finals and 18 postseason appearances in 19 years. 19 years is Chaney's Temple career.

Pukes: Utah is in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth year in a row, and for the 22nd time all-time, leading off with its 1944 national championship season.
Please note that 1944 preceeds Temple's 19 year history under Chaney!!

One also has to realise that although the Utes were seeded quite highly last year, times change and they probably will sink like a bloody big stone this year.
