Is there any sports that hold World Championships every four years for men & four years for women that are held alternately every two years?

Is this a general enquiry or a trick quiz question?

Sorry to be a bit of a thickie, I didn't understand your question at first. Maybe one of the sports buffs can answer you.

Sorry, I knew what I was trying to say but it is a bit confusing.
The world championships are held every two years but are alternately womens & then mens. I just want to know which sport, if any, does this.

I know the World Cup Soccer (football, for those outside the USA) is held every four years and is alternated between the men and women. The men's World Cup is this June in Korea.

That's a good call raceman, I could see what Friar Tuck meant, just didn't have an answer.

It also seems to happen in softball (see championship results at http://www.angelfire.com/sd/slopitch/fast.html

Thanks for putting me back on the right track TabbyTom.
I had passed over softball as I had read that the womens was started in 1965 just a year after when the previous mens World Championship was held. I should have read further.

PS you do not appear very often on Ask FunTrivia now. Had enough?

I still enjoy Ask Fun Trivia. It's just that I'm spending a bit less time on the Net than I used to, and the questions ahve generally already been answered by the time I look in.
