I would just like to say that this is not the way of us all!

Oh, and no, unfortunately not good enough to play for the Saracens yet but as we are going up a league again this year soon I will be beating them!

I liked this bit:

quote:
The game is simple. One man picks up the ball from a twisted pack of arms and legs and he runs as if a rabid dog with froth dripping from it’s fangs is chasing him. His goal: run the ball to the other side of the field, dive into the end zone, and wet himself. This rarely happens though, because en route to the end zone, a vigilante mob overtakes the player with the ball and spreads him across the field like peanut butter.

And then loved when the American caved......

quote:
At length, I finally gave up the ship, “Because Americans are a bunch of pris-ass pansies.”

“Yeah, thought so mate.”

Templar - thanx for recommending that site - it is really funny and it has now been circulated to most of my rugby club. It reminds me (although much funnier) of our first venture onto the rugby field at school. The teacher said you take this ball and run with it and place it over the line at the other end of the pitch to score and you've got 14 mates to help you. The unfortunate bit is that there are 15 other b*****s trying to stop you!

Templar I'm sure you're right, I've unfortunately not yet been given the chance to see some of the more spectacular parts of Wales, Llandudno is the nicest place I've been to so far. Is all of the North Wales coast like Rhyl?

Damned cheek !!! Arsenal are the ONLY team in London, the capital of England, and we have a history and a stadium to to make most clubs weep. HOWEVER as I am constantly reminded by my fiancee, the record for most goals scored and most years in the top flight of English Football is held by Everton, by some considerable distance. I think it's a hundred years next season (if they survive relegation) and I think the next team is Villa who are about 14 seasons behind them. Much as I complain, Goodison Park is a lovely, friendly place and Everton, as the old song says, truly are a grand old team to support. BUT THEY'RE NOT AS GOOD AS ARSENAL!!! Lol, lets hope the baby I'll be having in July is not a boy, I see no end of trouble here !!

Lupetta dear, you just said that Llandudno was a nice place...and that is on the North Wales coastline!!

Actually, I've always liked Conway (although the Black Rock Sands is a popular spot), but for me...forget the coast, move inland a little more til you hit my mountains!!

Snowdonia is one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth. While it's mountains may not be as gargantuan as many other ranges in the world (Snowdon being only 1,085 metres high [2930 feet]), Snowdonia exudes an "other-worldliness" that is virtually unparalleled any where else. The green slopes, topped of with cragged scree, the mountain lakes of deep blue and the varied wildlife that inhabit it's wide arms. Ahhh Snowdonia. Betwys-Y-Coed, Capel Curig, Cader Idris, Dolgellau, Lake Bala...............

Here are a couple of images of Snowdon:

Did you know that Tolkien got most of his imagery for "The Lord of the Rings" from Snowdonia.

Wow, have we moved away from football! Wales holds many mixed memories for me. I agree Templar about the beauty and serenity you can find in Snowdonia (even on Grib Goch) but having done army training in the Brecon Beacons I have very different views of that range! and Tywyn on a Friday night...............

Templar, my dear little pixie, have a closer look. I said that Llandudno was the NICEST place I have been to so far, that's not the same as saying it is nice. I have only Rhyl, Abergele and Colwyn Bay to compare it too, from that you may draw your own conclusions. Thanks for the pics, beautiful. Doesn't surprise me about the Tolkien thing, dragons and castles are what I think of when I think of Wales.

Would it be Penrhyn Castle I've been promised a trip to? Is that near to Rhyl? And before you say anything I know I'm deviating off the topic of football here ;-).

That's bizarre Monkey, I was in the RWF originally, then over to the RE. Small world.

Penrhyn Castle is a beautiful castle, except that really it's a fake, having only been built in the 19th Century (a little like Schloss Neu Schwanstein). I've always preferred the more historic castles, something with a real sense of ancient life....such as Cymer Castle, Dolbadarn Castle or Dolwyddelan Castle. Funnily enough though, more than the castles, the old Celtic hillforts that dot the area surrounding my home town are what really enthrall me.
