There have been a few 6-1 and 5-1 semi final results in early World Cup history (both semi finals in 1930 were 6-1 believe it or not) but in the modern game this is incredible. The fact it is Brazil getting thrashed in Brazil adds a great deal more to the story. It is a very public humiliation.

Well that's my World Cup Final predictions down the pan! If the demolition of Spain by Holland was unexpected, Germany taking Brazil apart on their own park, HAS to be one of the most incredible scorelines in the history of the World Cup.........of course it is only half over.........possible that Brazil may score 6 in the second half........but I don't think I'll have a bet on them doing so!

Wow! How many firsts in just one half of one game?

Klose is now also the all time leading World Cup goal scorer which knocks Ronaldo off the top of the table.

Can't say I'm too sorry, though. Brazil are too arrogant. The score would likely be closer if Neymar were playing, but not 5 goals closer.

And Oscar scores for Brazil! Won't salvage any of their pride, though.

Oddly enough, the seven Germany scored isn't the top total. Hungary destroyed El Salvador 10-1 in 1982...but that was a group stage match. Seven is a semifinal record.

Incredible result. 3 goals in 3 minutes and 4 in 6 minutes. Just a complete dismantling by Germany. Wow.

Neymar and Thiago Silva's absence was certainly a blow for Brazil, but this... 7-1. There are no words that can accurately describe the magnitude of the scoreline. The worst humiliation in the history of the Brazil national team, even worse than the loss to Uruguay in 1950.

Speechless! After watching all 4 quarterfinals, decided I would be better off sleeping this one (match starts 1.30 am India time) and what a match to miss! Couldn't believe the highlights package in the morning!

Too early to start analysis, but hats off to the Germans...wish they play like this in the finals too smile

This World Cup series has thrown up many unexpected results, some shock results, and may be true to say only ONE team has performed almost exactly as predicted, and that was England!

What was most shocking about last night's Brazil v Germany massacre (which made Custer's Last Stand seem like a close run fight)was the fact that Germany achieved that incredible scoreline, not against a minor team, or a nation whom they were expected to beat anyhow, but against arguably one of the world's top three teams. This result will reverberate around the football world for many a year to come.

Amazing stuff............!

On Saturday I said that Brazil needed to be more organised in order to beat Germany and I said that I thought they would tighten up and manage it.

Well they did not get organised and showed another display of complete lack of composure. I'm not surprised that Germany put them to the sword playing like they did and even though Germany were cruelly efficient in finishing them off it is not in my eyes an indicator of Germany becoming favourites with that display. Brazil were hopeless in defence (and fairly pedestrian going forward). They have ridden a wave of emotion to the semi finals and when they came across an opponent that did not get all caught up in the occasion with them they got blown away.

The media as usual were blowing it all out of proportion, saying that this team is terrible and so on. This Brazil side is ordinary, not terrible, there is a big difference. They are still a good international side, they just don't have the top, top stars to make it to the next level. I thought they could still win the World Cup due to the lack of any remarkable teams in the tournament with their home support and with a bit of organisation. So I would put plenty of blame onto the coaching staff for not drilling them a bit better and blame the players for losing their heads in nearly every game they've played. The headless way they played against Colombia was hilarious to watch, even funnier was the way Colombia joined in!

Tonight is the semi final that I thought would be the special one. I am working so will not see most of it which is a shame because I think it could be the match of the tournament.

Defense in today's is the name of the game.

0-0 at halftime.

hahaha, good one.

The ESPN announcer (Jon Champion) for today made a very poetic statement when describing the rain tonight: I say rain, but it may well be the tears of a heartbroken nation.

Beautiful line.

What's the predictions for the final? I'll be cheering for a Germany win.

Well, at half time,

Netherlands 2-0 Brazil, with two goals coming from Algerian ref Haimoudi's and his assistants mistakes, and of course, errors by the Brazilian team.

First goal: not a penalty, Robben dived (yet again), there was contact outside the box, and should've been a free kick and send-off to Silva. It ended on penalty and yellow card.

Second goal: David Luiz makes a mistake after a play which was an offside.
