The original owner of the comp was keen on hosting the Grand Slams again, but with the Championships starting Monday, June 23 and no signs of the threads here yet, I decided to jump in yet again The Wimbledon organisers snubbed world No. 1 Rafael Nadal by naming Novak Djokovic as the top seed instead. Will this fire up the Spaniard? Can Andy Murray defend his title? Or will the old warhorse Roger Federer make one last gasp run for Grand Slam glory? Will Serena Williams be seething at her early exit at Roland Garros? Can Maria Sharapova do a back-to-back double at the slams? or will Halep and Bouchard surprise us all? The two Georges here will try and defend their titles (if they sign up) while the rest of us will try and topple them. Sign up here if you are interested. Separate threads for men and women to go up after the draw on Friday, June 20

- Petra Kvitova won her second Wimbledon title, also her second Grand Slam title, "thrashing" a nervous Eugenie Bouchard in the final. But make no mistake, Bouchard is bound to win many a Slam title in the years to come.
- The next generation is clearly ready to take over in the women's game, as Simona Halep also made it to the semi-finals. Bouchard and Halep are the ONLY 2 women to make the quarters or better in all 3 Slams so far this year! Not Serena, Not Sharapova, Not Na Li, Not Azarenka...
- We continue to endure a most miserable year of tipping in the women's Slams in 2014
Nobody picked more than 4 right tips and it was an inspired tip of Lucie Safarova that lands BxBarracuda his second Wimbledon women's title in 3 years here. Nobody has defended their title here yet! - Howie72 was the only one of us to have a pick for the final (Kvitova) and that helps him win a second spot. Sypher nicked the bronze ahead of srini701, who is kicking himself real hard for editing his original tips (he had Bouchard to make it to the semis and then replaced her with Serena Williams)
- After BxBarracuda in the French Open, it was the turn of N-Bomb and wwe84 to add to the tally of golden ducks in the Slams. Both managed this commendable feat, while ozzz2002 will thank his "inspired" pick of Ekaterina Makarova to thank for his points this year.
- Hearty Congrats then to BxBarracuda, Howie72 and Sypher for finishing tops this year

- In one of the finest finals played in recent times, Novak Djokovic got the better of Roger Federer in five thrilling sets, to win his second Wimbledon title. It could have gone either way and both wanted the title real badly...Djokovic had lost his last 4 Grand Slam finals, while Federer hadn't won any in over 2 years and who knows, this may well have been his last (and best) shot at Grand Slam glory!
- As in the women's, two young rising stars in the men's game, Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov finally delivered, reaching their maiden slam semis. Add the sensational run of Australian teenager Nick Kyrgios, who made it to the last 8 toppling Rafael Nadal along the way, and you have some exciting times ahead in the men's game
- As at Roland Garros, we fared a lot better in the men's section, with Dizart winning the title with 11 right picks out of 15. LeoDaVinci is back on the podium after a very long time, and he deserves special kudos for his showing
BxBarracuda completed the podium, thanks to his pick of Marin Cilic, and thus becomes the only person to make it to both podiums in this year's Wimbledon....special plaudits to him too, then - Hearty Congrats then to Dizart, LeoDaVinci and BxBarracuda for their podium show and see you all at the US Open next

Nice work, Srini, and congrats to our medallists. It is getting harder and harder to make sense out of tennis, especially the women's comp.
