1. N-Bomb 2. paper_aero 3. PaulE
Three majors are down for the year, and N-Bomb claims his second after nabbing the Masters in April. Congratulations!
N-Bomb took the runaway winner Rory McIlroy, and followed him with 2 other golfers below 280 as well. Despite having to carry the weight of cut Lee Westwood, he prevailed by 1 stroke over paper_aero.
paper_aero had more consistent golfers than N-Bomb, but they shared Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell, and neither Phil Mickelson nor Justin Rose could make up the huge difference between themselves and McIlroy nor could they pull far enough away from Westwood.
PaulE had the most consistent golfers of the bunch, getting 280-280-283-283, but none of his foursome cracked the top 10. He did have the most unique team, however, as 3 of his golfers – Chris Wood, Francesco Molinari, and Stephen Gallacher – were all part of his top 4 scores and were all unique picks.
The tournament itself was much like the US Open, as Rory McIlroy (instead of Martin Kaymer) won the tournament wire-to-wire, and provided little late drama with Sergio Garcia chasing behind all of Sunday. He cashed in over $1.6 million himself, and won $171,000 for his dad, who 10 years ago bet that Rory would win the Open Championship within 10 years. McIlroy joins only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as 3-time major champions before the age of 26.
Elsewhere, Howie72’s quest to take a unique golfer paid off with Mikko Ilonen, however his 296 did not help matters as Howie went from first in the US Open to last in the British.
In a strange turn of events, of the 4 tippers to take McIlroy, only N-Bomb finished on the podium. Sypher and BxBarracuda were 2 of the others and finished in 5th and 6th, respectively, both dragged down by Luke Donald’s 292. Dizart was the fourth, and he like many of us was allured by Martin Kaymer following his US Open victory, only to have our hopes dashed finishing 25 strokes back of McIlroy.
The final major will soon be upon us, as the PGA Championship heads to Valhalla in Louisville, KY to finish out the year on August 7.

Here's a free tip for all who want to be on the podium in Golf...wait till I lodge my tips and make sure you DON'T pick any of the same players! All my picks seem to fare badly in every golf major Yeah, I did that, Srini, and ended up 17 shots behind you!. AND 41 shots behind N-Bomb. I think my team played five rounds...
