Tipping Comp

The World Cup has finally finished and it's time to get down to business...IT IS THE FA Premiership League Tipping Competition. This competition is one of the oldest here at FunTrivia and we still have some of the original members back for the 15th year running. (Hell, I bet this comp is older then some of the members here)

Previously seen in the FAPL ...(cue the music)

Will N-Bomb defend his crown and still be top of the table at the end of the season or will a newbie knock his block off? Could illiniman14 go one better and actually win instead of runner up? Was last year just a blip in PaulE's scheme and they will take back what was theirs? Only time will tell......

For all you newcomers out there, the rules are really simple - Every round (38 in total) you must decide which team is going to win or draw and every correct prediction is worth 1pt.

If you fail to pick than you receive a default score (the wooden spoon score for that week).

The competition starts August 16th 2014 !!

Welcome to the 15th year of one the longest comps here at FunTrivia (the other two are NFL and NRL). We start the season with only 15 tippers (how appropiate considering this is the 15th year), losing LeoDaVinci & KrivoyRog during the off-season. All three podium placers from last year have returned to either keep their crown (N-Bomb) or to go one or two better (illiniman14 & PaulE). The rest of us are all hoping for a better season then last....

If you thought the start of the season last year was interesting, this year's start was even better. Again, we saw several clubs with new managers and even one club with no manager, as they decided to sack him the day before the season started...they must have been mad considering he was voted manager of the year, but then owners have a mind of their own.

The three teams who were promoted last season from the Championsip did not start of well, only a draw between them but Burnley at one point did look like they were going to cause a major upset by scoring first against Chelsea, but that thought didn't last long as three goals went to the back of the net in the first half.

Man Utd suffered a home defeat to the Welsh - this was not the start that United's new manager wanted but do not think that United are pushovers, as they were missing quite a few key players. North London rivals - Spurs and Arsenal both got off to a winning start by scoring soo late in the game that some supporters probably had already the stadium and missed the celebrations.

Ozzz2002 and George95 start the season as our weekly winners and I bet Greg is kicking himself for not keeping his picks the same for the FTPL (Why do people change their tips....strange folk). Alas, wwe84 takes the wooden spoon this week with a paltry three whereas the rest of us are bunched up closer then a trip on the underground during rush hour!!

So, until the next round.....May all teams with the colour blue (and white) continue to win!!

After just two weeks, alarm bells are ringing at Manchester United who have only secured 1pt...which is pretty much unheard of for a team of that pedigree. But...as they say in North London...Hey Ho!! The true champions of North London (the ones in Blue and White) are taking roost at the top of the league after thrashing QPR and their former manager 4-0, whilst that other team in red and white had to bribe the ref to allow an extra 10 minutes of injury time so they could score an equaliser.

FussBudget must have a crystal ball becuase they managed to predict nine games...yes nine games and the one to let them down - WestHam (who finally found what the back of the net looked like). Not feeling selfish - ozzz2002 now collects a spoon (that's two for two collected) and wwe84 also collects their second but alas it's another spoon!!

Welcome LeoDaVinci - that brings us to 16 players and only one short of last years tally. The table is still pretty much bunched up with FussBudget taking a 3pt lead.

So, until the next round.....May all teams with the colour blue (and white) continue to win and stay at the top of the league!!
