FussBudget is still there leading the way, but only just .. dg_dave picked 9/12 (and three of those nine were solo picks!) to fly up the table into second place, one point in arrears. A mere 3˝ pts covers the 8 players running 3rd to 10th (it was a 5 point spread last week). After five weeks dg_dave has received four weekly awards .. two wins and two wooden spoons.

There were just two bonus picks in this round, to make it 52 so far .. at the same stage last year (week 7) we had 62 bonuses and I've just realised why. Last year we had 16 runners with solo picks being a max of 3 players whereas this year it has somehow ended up as a max of 2 players for a solo pick (I think I got my wires crossed when I edited the signup thread). Last week wwe84 scored his first weekly win. This week he scores another to make it back-to-back weekly wins. Two weeks ago he was 3˝ pts off the bottom of the table. He's now 13 pts off the bottom.

Dizart is the other weekly winner .. it's his first for the season. He also scored his first bonus pick, which plugs the last hole in that column in the standings .. and with that effort he climbs up into 7th place, which is a new high for the season.

ozzz2002 again collects back-to-back spoons, to make it four straight .. and remains firmly planted at the foot of the ladder.
Sypher retains his lead out front over dg_dave, who's joined by N-Bomb in equal 2nd place.

Between us we averaged 50.5% correct, which is the first time this season we've broken through the 50% barrier. The next round is mid-week : FLC [ 10 ] Tue 30th Sept.

ozzz2002 went into this round on the back of four consecutive wooden spoons. One more would see his name up in lights with
an entry in the FT Record Book. The fear factor had an impact. He scores his first weekly win and is no longer at the rear of the field.

BxBarracuda also scored his first weekly win; leaving just four blanks in that column of the standings.

Sypher is still our leader .. he has extended his lead to 4˝ pts, which is the biggest lead all season. He's starting to look like a runaway. There were no changes in the first seven spots; but from there down no-one kept their spot from last week. Last week 6˝ pts covered the six players running 2nd to 7th .. this week we have 5 pts covering those six spots.

Two games were picked by no-one, two games were picked by everyone, and two games were solo picks.

The season only started the other week, but that completes Round 10! We have another 36 weeks in front of us in this marathon.

Week 11 of the 9th edition of the FLC tipping comp produced eight draws and, between us, we averaged a paltry 21.1% .. this is the the third-worst strike rate over 379 rounds of FLC picks over the last 9 years. Between us we hit pay dirt with just 38 correct picks, and 14 of them were solo picks. The FLC Record Book has been updated for this record-equalling strike rate (see post above this one).

wwe84 scored his third weekly win in four and is now 7˝ points behind the leader .. five weeks ago he was 16˝ pts off the pace. He was this round's weekly winner with a mere 5/12 .. and three of those were solo picks. BxBarracuda went one better. He picked 3/12 and *all* of them were solo picks!

Not to be outdone, FussBudget went one better. He collected the wooden spoon with picks of 0/12 .. this is the 10th golden wood over the last 9 seasons (aka the last 379 rounds). The FLC Record Book has been updated for this achievement .. btw this was an encore performance, as two of those ten belong to FussBudget! This effort has also earnt him an entry in the FT HoF Record Book.

ozzz2002 almost had his name in lights alongside FussBudget. He picked 1/12 and it was a solo pick.

Out front, Sypher maintains his 4˝ pt lead over N-Bomb. Behind them the seven players running 3rd to 9th are separated by just 3 pts .. it was a 6 pt spread last week.

We now have a fortnight's rest for FIFA internationals. The FLC comp will return in mid-October with two back-to-back rounds:
FLC [ 12 ] Sat 18th October and FLC [ 13 ] Tue 21st October .. which matches the next round of the UEFA Champions League.

We had a full house this week. There were no scratchings .. 16 of 16 rolled up at the barriers for week 12.

The first three are the same as last week .. ditto the 3 tail-enders. All the changes were In between .. three players establishing new high/lows for the season:
    High: paper_aero and BxBarracuda
    Low : FussBudget
paper_aero scored his first weekly win, which plugged another blank in that column. FussBudget collected back-to-back spoons. He came within a whisker of unprecedented Platinum Wood in the FLC comp (aka as back-to-back Golden Woods) .. he followed up last week's 0/12 with 1/12.

If we look at wwe84 and FussBudget over the last four weeks we have this scenario: FussBudget was 14˝ points in front of wwe84 back in Round 8 .. he's now 2 points behind him. Will that impress the missus in the FussBudget household?

The next round is mid-week: FLC [ 13 ] Tue 21st October.

Once again there were no scratchings. We had a full house for consecutive rounds, a first for the season!

Sypher scores yet another weekly win and extends his lead out front. FussBudget has stopped the rot. He's followed up back-to-back spoons of 0/12 & 1/12 with an 8/12 weekly win. He doesn't have to mow the lawns this weekend; the missus has given him the day off.

This week only one player established a new high for the season (no new lows):
    High: paper_aero (again).
    Low : nobody, not even FussBudget.
With back-to-back personal highs, paper_aero is on the podium for the first time this season.

That completes Round 13 .. and ozzz2002 has collected his 6th wooden spoon. We have another 33 laps before we greet the judges.

wwe84 scores yet another weekly win, his 4th this season (and more than anyone else) .. and they've all come in the last seven rounds. Before this streak started he was running 3rd last some 15˝ pts off the podium. He's now a mere 1˝ pts off the podium.

Birmingham City v Bournemouth 0-8 established two new records:

Bournemouth have never scored 8 goals in a league game .. their previous best was seven on 22-Sep-1956 at home to Swindon Town in Division 3 (South). Their record away victory in a league game is now greater than than record home victory (which is rare).

Birmingham City equalled their record loss: 1-9 on 05-Jan-1895 v Blackburn Rovers in Division 1 (now FAPL) and 1-9 on 13-Dec-30
v Sheffield Wednesday in Division 1 (both away). Their record loss margin is now the same, home and away.
