The Rules
1. Everyone will pick 5 golfers.

2. We may have a maximum of 2 golfers from the top 10 of world rankings as of July 28, 2014 in our fivesomes. The current top 10 is:

3. The lowest 4 total scores from each tipper’s fivesome will be added together to make the final score, and the lowest total score wins.

4. If one of your golfers fails to make the cut, his score from the first two rounds will be doubled to account for his final two rounds.
-A golfer must finish the first two rounds in order for his score to be counted towards the total

Tiebreaker
The lowest score from each tipper’s fifth golfer will serve as the tiebreaker. Should that be the same, it will go to the fourth-highest score and so on.

srini - Fowler's a 25-year-old that in the first 3 majors of the year has reached his career best in each one, and all were top 5 finishes. Assuming that Tiger is on the downslope it looks like he may be the new Phil Mickelson equivalent if Rory McIlroy is the new Tiger.

*- gtho4 won a tiebreaker over paper_aero when his fifth golfer (Marc Leishman) shot a 283 compared to paper’s fifth golfer (Keegan Bradley) earning a 292 after missing the cut.

**- Sypher won a tiebreaker over BxBarracuda because BxBarracuda’s fifth golfer (Jason Dufner) withdrew from the tournament.

In a hotly-contested match, the top 2 had the same 4 golfers as their top 4, but thanks to choosing 5 golfers all under par, gtho4 takes home the victory! gtho4 and paper_aero both ended up having Rory McIlroy (winner), Phil Mickelson (runner-up), Rickie Fowler (T-3rd), and Adam Scott (T-15th) as their top 4. gtho4 chose Marc Leishman as his fifth, finishing -1 for the tournament. paper_aero’s fifth, Keegan Bradley, was cut after shooting +4, which was doubled to +8. The bronze medal was much more clear-cut, as Sypher’s fifth golfer, also Keegan Bradley, made it through his two rounds, while BxBarracuda’s fifth golfer, last year’s PGA Champion Jason Dufner, withdrew in the first round. There was one common theme for those at the top of the leaderboard... and in the middle... and most of those at the bottom: Rory McIlroy. Every tipper except for ozzz2002 (that rebel) chose the tournament champion, which is something we have never seen; even in the days that Tiger Woods used to play golf. The closest we ever came to having a universally-chosen golfer before now was 11/14 picking Tiger for the 2013 Masters, and it beats the most-chosen record when 12/16 picked Lee Westwood for the 2012 Open Championship. Going into Sunday, five players were in good position to win the PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy, leading by one stroke over Bernd Wiesberger, with a one stroke advantage over Rickie Fowler, who also had a one stroke lead over Jason Day and Phil Mickelson. Early on into the day, Henrik Stenson pushed himself into the picture with a -5 front nine. Meanwhile, Jason Day fizzled out with an even front 9. Wiesberger went +3 on the day and was never really in the picture. McIlroy began to fade early with a +1 front nine, but an eagle on #10 put him back into the picture at -14. By that time, Fowler was out to a solo lead at -15, but Mickelson tied him on #11. Stenson temporarily tied them on #13, but a bogey on #14 put him back to -14, where he would stay. Fowler did the same on #14, and stuck with Stenson at -14. This leaving McIlroy and Mickelson to battle it out, McIlroy tied for the lead with a birdie on #13. As the sun began to set, Mickelson bogeyed #16. Shortly afterwards, in the looming darkness, McIlroy birdied #17. Due to the darkness, the Fowler-Mickelson group allowed McIlroy-Wiesberger to hit into them as they walked to their balls for their drives and second shots. A Mickelson birdie on #18 meant McIlroy had 3 shots to get in from a greenside bunker, which he did exactly despite having nearly just the light of the moon. A few upset picks went unpicked in this tournament. Ryan Palmer was tied for 5th with a -12; five of six golfers who finished at -11 were chosen by no one (Jimmy Walker, Victor Dubuisson, Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Mikko Ilonen); Kevin Chappell went -10, as well as the aforementioned Bernd Wiesberger. The top possible score for a legal team was 1077 (McIlroy-Mickelson-Stenson-Fowler-Palmer). With that, the 2014 golf major season is over, and we look forward to 2015!
