I love that photo flopsy! The swirling pattern emanating from the centre of the flower reminds met yet again of the symmetries of nature hidden everywhere. Thanks, Mike. I also liked the swirls, and if you look (which I'm sure you did) you see how many swirls you can see all at once and all starting from the same place. It's rather like one of those Victorian visual experiments only more complicated.

Your flowers are gorgeous, Flopsy. Such vibrant colours. All the photos have been really interesting since I last was in. I did the school camp and then spent a couple days in bed with the flu! Perhaps if I stayed in one of these I wouldn't have gotten so sick?? Instead I just sleep in a swag in the back of the ute. I am classy like that.

Love that fish photo!
And I love the collection of exotic animals from elks to snakes to poppies.
I often think we should all get together to make a few photo quizzes. With such a wealth of variety between us, we could do something very interesting, I am sure. Great idea Chavs, but I think photo quizzes can only be done by certain individuals. Team PhotoThread could do wonderful quizzes given the chance

This fortification - Boyard's Cove fort - in Dartmouth was built in the 16th century to defend the harbour. Ironically, the only time it came under fire was during the English Civil war & that was from land, not sea. It's now been restored to something like its former glory.

LOL Chris, no! One set does belong to #1 son. I think he somehow got put through a pasta maker about a year ago - he's put on no weight but is now about 30 cm (1 ft) taller!
When not rostered by the team manager (my wife!) to be a linesman, my self-appointed task is to take photos throughout the season. At the end of the season, I put a DVD together featuring all of the boys in action and each boy gets a copy. Just a bit of fun!

This is the view that defenders in the fort would have had of any approaching enemies (except that, in the best traditions of pantomime, 'They're behind you!') It wasn't easy on the knees to get down so low to take the shot but it gave me the chance to play around with depth-of-field etc. We must suffer for our art from time to time.

I agree - really enjoyed those photos, Martin - especially with the historical context.
