This month's theme, we hope, will be quite special as it is in memory of Gatsby722 aka Dave who passed away recently. He was a pretty prolific member with over 123, 000 posts since joining FT in 2001 and will be missed greatly This is Gatsby's Profile Here is a link to his posts if you need a bit of inspiration. Don't feel left out if you didn't know Gats! Feel free to use the Great Gatsby book or movie for inspiration or even F. Scott Fitzgerald. Normally there is one photo a week for the monthly themes but I think we could be a bit more relaxed about and have a couple a week if people desire. Please have fun with this!

A bit obscure this one, but David always mentioned Eric Clapton in his messages to me, knowing he is my idol and that there is no other guitarist. This picture is of Layla who lives down the road and always gets a dog treat when passing the gate, much to the fury of my Gnawra.

I have posted this before, a long time ago, but it seemed appropriate to post it again. It amused Dave when I first posted it. This is the place where I used to get my hair done - it used to be the best and cheapest hairdresser in town until the owner decided to retire and sold it.

This is one I took about three years ago. This is in the Austin Waters subdivision in Carrollton, TX. edit to add: there are far more houses there now than there was when this picture was taken.

When I first joined the Forums, there was a game called the Trivia Rounds which consisted of a member posting 5 topics and players sending in their answers by PM (more points for a unique answer than a tie). These games and the chain ones were where I mostly interacted with Gats so my photos are going to be based on those rounds. In one of the first rounds hosted by Gats, he had asked players to name a US state beginning with a vowel. Taken in Hoonah, Alaska

This is the nearest I can get to Daisy (from the Great Gatsby). Some Gerberas from my garden.

Zorba, thank you so much for posting that! I had almost forgotten that fabulous game of Trivia Rounds. It was great fun, even if I eventually ran out of steam for playing it.
You all have come up with some super tributes to our Gatsby, I love this thread!

I had fun with those games too, Santana. Another of Gats' Qs - "According to Fodor's Travel Guide (2004), what were the Editor's picks for the best places to dine (fancy and full service) in Paris?" Moulin Rouge in Paris

Multi-levels of gratitude on this one to Chavs. In the 1/day thread she posted an image of a lit candle in memory of WW I tragedies. In "The Great Gatsby" the narrator, Nick Carraway, has been hugely influenced by the fact he is a WW I veteran. A memorial tradition began after Armistice Day: to wear a linen imitation poppy in honor of those who fell in 'the great war'. So, let this serve as a memorial to both Gatsby and fallen soldiers. Sorry about the blurriness. New camera and I am too lazy to break out the tripod.

Gatsby was a massive influence for me on the Forums Like others, I remember the "Trivia rounds" with fondness! Hoping this will fit into the "Great Gatsby" theme. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to send a homemade card to Gatsby, but this card seems to sum up the "Great Gatsby era".

That's a perfect representation of the "Gatsby" era, JM!
