The NFL preseason is beginning, hence the NFL season is just a few weeks away. Rules: - One point for a correct tip.
- Deadline is always Friday midnight FT time. One point will be deducted for late tips, after a period of grace of two hours past the deadline. (see below for Thursday issue)
- Late starters come in at the lowest score, or lowest active tipper if the lowest tipper has not tipped for four consecutive weeks.
- Default score will be a straight six points, unless wooden spoon score is higher.
- Tips not in by kickoff Sunday receive default score.
- Thursday games: tips must be in at the time specified on threads with a Thursday game. Games will be noted with a star after them. Your tip will not count if it is past the time, which will be about 2 to 2½ hours prior to kickoff. For US Thanksgiving Day (Week 13), all three games must be tipped by the Thursday morning (FT time) deadline.
Bonus points: - One point will be awarded for a solo pick (or one of two if 12+ tippers, or one of three if 20+).
- One point if a player scores 12+/13, 12+/14, 13+/15, or 13+/16.
- Ineligible for bonus if player picks all homes or all bar one.
- Ineligible for bonus if player tips all the favored teams for the week or all bar one. If a favorite changes after the favorites are posted, we will use the favorites originally posted by the organizer. A game with a PK spread is always the home team per our footballlocks website.

Welcome to the 2014 NFL season tipping comp! Trash talking is allowed, but remember to keep it within the FT rules. If I can handle 29 in a comp, I can certainly handle 20.  Bring on any more takers and let's see if we can get to 30! The all-time record in any FT comp is 32 participants. No shows from last year are solely KrivoyRog. No new faces this year...so far. We don't bite around here, but we do have a great time!
As the first game went well past my bedtime, the scores were not posted last night.
Srini701 starts atop our leaderboard, with gtho4 a point back, and five others only one behind him. Ozfei hits 86 and counting...
As the season progresses, someone will have their name in lights, and some may not be in the best of circumstances, as is wwe84 and BxBarracuda this week by taking the first Spoons of the season. We have 16 weeks more where one's name could be announced!
We'll see how the comp organizer does against his home team...he was 12-4 last year and the year before, and 14-2 the year before that. He's 1-0 to start this year, but as the Cowboys are faring worse this year, it should be easy to top the 12-4 marks. Just because San Francisco beat Dallas doesn't mean San Francisco will go 16-0...Dallas is an easy win for most this year. I still say a 9-7 team won't make the Super Bowl, much less the postseason in the NFC. Also, make sure to post in time...you will lose a point (hint hint LDV)
To gtho4: what did you know in Miami that the rest of us didn't??

Seems to be all over the spectrum this week, as it was feast or famine...two games were picked by no one, and two by everyone. We all were expecting the Seahawks to dominate the Chargers, and it seems it went the other way lol.
George95 and ozzz2002 both fly up the table, as they were the only double digit scorers this week...and they didn't pick the same game to gain their bonus point.
Gillyharold's tips was 14 minutes after the game kicked off, hence he lost that game, which wouldn't have helped him not gain this week's Spoon.
We'll see how the comp organizer does against his home team...he's 1-1 after losing that one, since Tennessee must have been good the wrong week.

Interesting week this week, as not too many were able to keep their spots.
A couple of surprises...no one picked Tampa Bay to win, and they almost lost after leading 10-0. The other was KC winning at Arrowhead against Tom Brady and Co., and the only bonus points go to the three who had more faith in Alex Smith.
LeoDaVinci is our first defaulter of the season.
Several only picked one underdog, and would have gained no bonus points for them.
We'll see how the comp organizer does against his home team...he's 2-2 after a shellacking expected the other way.
Just a reminder: if you only pick one underdog, you are ineligible for bonus points, and I know exactly how many are picked.
Any inactive tippers who tip and are below 2nd last, their score will jump to 2nd last, however, if they are above 2nd last, they will not lose points to fall to 2nd last (or the lowest active tipper)

What happened to ozfei? Guess she wanted to keep her Spoonless string intact.
Srini701's dartboard was working overtime, while ozzz2002's was a dud; the latter was the only player below 50%. Wwe84's somehow picked Buffalo to win in Detroit, and he earned the only solo bonus point
Three others picked up a near miss, going 13/15, but did not get th weekly win for those efforts.
‡Srini701 did not earn a bonus point due to his picking all favored bar one.

George95 got a solo pick bonus...which game?? BTW, I was out of station last couple of weeks, and for the first time, used only the standings on the NFL site to lodge my picks (see post...I had my tips in before you posted the favorites list ) ...you should be considerate and give me an extra points for a really freak show

I didn't when Sypher pulled off a feat like that last year because he only picked one underdog...have to be fair...sorry.
Fixed George95's letter...he did get the near miss bonus.
