COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2014 Rules: 1. One point for a correct tip. 2. The deadline will normally be Friday midnight FT time. One point will be deducted for late tips, after a period of grace of two or three hours past the deadline. 3. Late starters come in at the lowest score, or lowest active tipper if the lowest tipper has not tipped for four consecutive weeks. 4. Default score will be the away teams, or in the case of Neutral Site games, the team listed first. 5. Tips not in by kickoff off of the first game on Saturday receive default score for the week, tips not in by kickoff for games played before Saturday will only receive default tips for those games played early. Bonus points: 1. One point will be awarded for a solo pick (or one of two if 10+ tippers). 2. One point will be awarded for picks where the winning team was more then a 10 point underdog. **Lines will be posted on Wednesday or Thursday each week and be taken from http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/, preferably from the sportsbook.ag line** 3. One point if a player scores 13+/16. 4. A tipper is ineligible for bonus if player picks all homes or all bar one. 5. A tipper is ineligible for bonus if player tips all the favored teams for the week or all bar one. Other than Weeks 1, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 all games will be played on Saturdays. Weeks 16 and 17 use Bowl Games to make up that weeks tipping schedule. Some Bowl games don't make the schedule so that we can keep with the 16 game per week set-up and the National Championship Game will not be on the schedule since the teams for that game won't be known until the first round of the Playoff format have taken place.

A big welcome to brewpack, as we start the season with 13 tippers, it's good to have some new blood in the arena since a few of the regulars have passed on the competition this year.
One thing was clear from the Texas A&M vs. South Carolina game, and it was most likely the difference, the Aggies were on the same page and the Gamecocks didn't seem to be, plus Texas A&M dominated the trenches. Tulsa won a tight one against Tulane, separating themselves in the second overtime, winning 38-31 and they're on their way to reversing their last year's 3-9 season, which had followed an 11-3 season where they avenged one of those losses in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl by defeating Iowa State. Ole Miss exploded in the 4th quarter on Boise State putting up 28 points to pull away in what was a close low scoring game 38-13. The Rams may have been three point underdogs according the men in Vegas, who would have been right on target it they only played three quarters, but that didn't fool the majority of us, as nine of the thirteen tippers this week picked them to upset the Buffaloes, which the Colorado State team happily did, scoring seventeen fourth quarter points, while shutting out Colorado, to turn a small deficit into a fourteen point win 31-17. The UCLA offensive line was like Swiss cheese leaving their quarterback scrambling almost every play, but their defensive pressure took advantage of an inexperienced quarterback, picked off two passes for touchdowns and scored another off of a recovered fumble, which allowed the Bruins to leave Cavalier country with a 28-20 win. California and Northwestern were both looking for redemption seasons as they both were well under expectations for the teams last year and California is the team that got themselves on the way to turning things around with 31-24 victory, they had three 75 yard plus touchdown drives in the first half, eventually taking a 31-7 lead early in the 3rd quarter that the Wildcats comeback couldn't surmount, as a late interception ended their last chance to score. Auburn didn't have the greatest first half, but they showed they have an heir apparent to Nick Marshall, who played the second half and the Tigers pulled away from the Razorbacks 45-21. Georgia won a big out of conference game against Clemson 45-21. USC was all over Fresno State 52-13. Southern Miss was no match for Mississippi State as they were goose egged 49-0. Florida State had a tougher opener than expected but proved victorious 37-31 over Oklahoma State. Wisconsin was the was the best team on the field for three quarters against LSU, they play four quarters though and LSU was valiant in that fourth quarter and won 28-24. Washington didn't look good against Hawaii, but the Huskies left with a 17-16 win. In an interesting first week game up and coming mid major Utah State went into Tennessee, a team on the lower part of the SEC totem pole these days, and Tennessee looked good with a 38-7 win. In another blanking Baylor took down SMU 45-0. Louisville surprised Miami (FL) in the showcased Monday night game and handily beat the Hurricanes 31-7.
Dizart takes the early lead with 14 of 16 correct, ozz got the spoon, but with handful of bonus points he is in the middle of pack on the ladder. Three other tippers followed illiniman's lead. Gtho4 missed picking the Wisconsin v LSU game and since this was a neutral site game, his default pick was Wisconsin, since they were listed first.
Ozzz and wwe opened the season with two bonus each for the Texas A&M drudging of South Carolina and received 2 more each for the California upset of Northwestern. Dizart got a bonus point for his 14 of 16 correct, while five others received a bonus point for 13 of 16 correct.
Upset wins went to Texas A&M, Colorado State and California.

Kansas State needed a 12 point fourth quarter to defeat Iowa State 32-28. Army held its ground against Buffalo starting the season 1-0 with a 47-39 win. Fresno State was riding high last year, but without quarterback Derrick Carr this year they have slid back and have opened up 0-2 against PAC-12 opponents, this week losing to Utah 59-27. Maryland has opened their initial season in the BIG-10 2-0 by topping South Florida this week 24-17. Northwestern has wasted little time in disappointing a large group of alumni from ESPN this year, who can take solace in not having the team get their hopes up this year, as they lose this week to Northern Illinois, who haven’t seemed to have lost a step after their quarterback Jordan Lynch has moved on, 23-15. USC hung tough with Stanford, who don’t have many toes left after shooting themselves in the foot time after time during the game, and won 13-10. The post Jeff Franklin era in Vanderbilt is off to a horrendous start as after losing to Temple they get roughed up by Ole Miss this week 41-3. Michigan State came out strong against Oregon and took a lead into halftime, but the second half was all Ducks as they sped around the field for a 46-27 victory. South Carolina didn’t bounce back very strong from their opening week loss, but earned one for the win column with a 33-23 topping of East Carolina. Louisiana-Tech surprised Louisiana-Lafayette by going into their house and leaving with a 48-20 win. BYU repeated their performance of running all over Texas, this week winning 41-7. In the last match-up of this long running series Notre Dame made a strong statement that will leave a bitter taste in Michigan fans mouths, as the Fighting Irish blanked the Wolverines 31-0. North Carolina edged San Diego State 31-17. Ohio State fans expected a tough season after losing their starting quarterback, but they couldn’t have expected to be dominated in their own house by Virginia Tech, which is what they witnessed, 35-21. Wyoming came out ahead of Air Force 17-13. Boise State and Colorado State are now both 1-1 as the Bronco’s took this game 24-37
HoF was shared by dg_dave, gtho4 and Sypher with 12, while wwe84 landed the spoon with 8.
Ozzz and wwe continue their double bonus picks from one game, solo and underdog, this week for the Louisiana Tech win.
Upset wins went to Northern Illinois, USC, Louisiana Tech, Virginia Tech and Wyoming.

UCF held in there with Missouri for a half but got squashed in the second half losing 38-10. East Carolina overwhelmed Virginia Tech, maybe still on the high of their huge upset of Ohio State last week, but let them back in the game in second half, even letting the Hokies tie the game late in the fourth quarter before rolling down the field for the winning score and a 28-21 triumph. West Virginia and Maryland shot it out, with West Virginia being the final team to score as time expired for the 40-37 win. Marshall had no trouble with Ohio getting a 44-14 win. Louisville struggled with Virginia all day and it was the Cavaliers who proved better getting the upset 23-21. What is there to say about a 41-3 win, other than Duke is for real and Kansas might be better off only focusing on basketball, if they aren't already. Arkansas in their second season with a new head coach are showing vast improvement from last year, going into to Texas Tech and walking out with a 49-28 win. In a game that might not have caught the eye of people outside the Hawkeye state, previously (0-2) Iowa State hit a field goal with two seconds left to top formerly (2-0) Iowa, to win 20-17, in a yearly match-up that has been decided by a touchdown or less the last four years. In the game of the day South Carolina and Georgia battled it out, it was Todd Gurley, with help from a trio of other backs, against the tandem of Brandon Wilds and Mike Davis, as the Gamecock defense, which has been much maligned this year, kept the Bulldogs to two field goals in the first half once the score was 7-7, which allowed South Carolina to go into the half with a 24-13 lead, and as Georgia punched back in the second half, South Carolina had enough counter punches to hold off Georgia as they were staunch in the last 7:01 of the game in which no scoring occured and South Carolina got a 38-35 win. Illinois went into Washington and the Huskies fed on them 44-19. Utah State is proving to be a team on the rise and not a mid-major to be overlooked, while it was just Wake Forest they played from a big five conference, they got the win 36-24. In a game that turned into the battle of the back-ups, Texas who is already without their starting quarterback played UCLA who lost their starting quarterback after three runs and four throws, so far both teams have been underperforming expectations this year, with the Bruins still winning, just doing it ugly, neither quarterback threw an interception there were twelve punts split evenly between the teams, the scrappy Longhorns answered the Bruin fourth quarter field goal, which gave them a 13-10 lead, with a touchdown to take the lead with five minutes to go, only to see UCLA explode down the field in two minutes for the final score of the game and a 20-17 victory. Oklahoma is a force to be dealt with this year, taking care of Tennessee this week 34-10. In a low scoring game Rutgers scored the only ten points in the first half, but Penn State scored the only thirteen points in the second half to stay perfect 13-10. The final two games of the week weren't close as Texas A&M, who are better than expected, took care of Rice easily 38-10, and Nebraska had no trouble with Fresno State, who have declined this year, running the score up 55-19.
HoF was shared by Bx and gillyharold with 13, who both make big moves up the board, gillyharold moving up 10 places in what looks like now will be a 12 tipper competition, and Bx jumps to the top of the ladder for a moment. The spoon had to broke into four pieces as dg_dave, gtho4, ozzz2002 and wwe84 shared it with 9.
Wwe continued his bonus point streak, getting a solo and underdog pick with Bx for the East Carolina win and another underdog point, along with Bx and gillyharold, for Iowa States win. Gillyharold and Bx also grabbed perfect pick bonus points this week.
Upset wins were taken by East Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Arkansas, Iowa State and South Carolina.

TCU put up a Big 12 in Conference record 82 points against Texas Tech. Even having a down year LSU is now 7-2 after handing Ole Miss it's first loss of the season 10-7. Michigan State continued Michigan's woes, Ohio State almost gave away a game to Penn State before winning in the 2nd OT and Illionis got their first Conference win of the season, upsetting Minnesota. Kansas State blanked Texas and the state of Arizona, even in a downpour, proved much better than the State of Washington in College Football.
There were 6 bonus points this week, led by ozzz who took two, one for near perfect picks and one for the Illionis win.
Gillyharold takes the HoF with 14, while wwe is letting the rest of us back in the competition, taking his second spoon in a row with an 8 this week, second place Sypher faired just as well, as he was default this week. No active tipper is more than eleven points behind first place and there are ten teams within six points of leader wwe.
Upset wins went to LSU, Georgia Tech, Utah, North Carolina and Illinois.
