That's quite the mural. It would be nice to see it renovated and have the colors back in. This was taken at an animal sanctuary in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The owner rescues animals that are no longer wanted by circuses or that people thought they could make pets of only to discover trying to turn a wild animal into a pet is a bad idea. We call these mountain lions although they are also known as pumas or cougars. In addition to these the sanctuary houses lions, tigers, wolves, wild dogs, bears, buffalo and assorted other rescued animals.

Hahei Beach looks like a place I'd like to be right now. These tigers are also at the animal sanctuary. These two are brothers.

Sorry Jill I only just saw your suggestion. Shall we experiment with it as the October Monthly theme? I feel the themes are not too well used at present so we could just make October into a request-a-pic thread. What do we think? If it goes well we could make it a permanent feature. I am wondering whether to drop the song title one and/ or the book title one. Let me know.

Good grief.
The book and song title threads are wonderfully creative and clever, as are the current and past participants. Why would you want to dismantle them? Simply because people don't post EVERY day?
Odd, since some of the other threads are supposedly once per week, depending on whatever day one decides a "week" entails lol. The rules on that situation aren't exactly clear, considering what has been 'allowed' to be posted and what has been asked to be removed (presumably for "another day" - a rainy day perhaps, who knows? lol). Ask anyone who isn't afraid of moderators and they'll tell you the same thing.
Oh wait, there's probably only me, since most folks don't like to ruffle feathers even if they completely disagree with what is going on. In my little world, I'd go "cluck cluck" to the people who might agree, but don't bother to respond LOL
So "Never mind" (in her best roseanne rosanadanna voice). Oh wait, half this thread probably never watched SNL in the 70's, so um, "never mind" in my own voice LOL!
addendum: my personal feeling is that the threads in TOTAL in the forums are not being used like they used to, oh, say 3 years ago. I'm sure there's a reason for that, which I don't want to get into, but I don't believe that "slow periods" mean that anyone should delete threads altogether so that NO one can contribute further and certainly NOT in something as specialised like a photography forum.

I had computer problems at work the other day. My daughter phoned me right after I lost some work and was unable to retrieve it, hence she was aware I was not having the best day. So, after work she surprised me with these lovely flowers to brighten up my day. The flowers are gorgeous and have a very strong perfume which you can smell as soon as you step inside the house.

You're blessed (not just on one account lol). Normally when we get cut "asian" lilies here , they don't smell like anything at all and if you don't cut their sex parts off (which applies to all lilies really lol), the stains on clothes/counters is a problem, but worth it in my opinion.
Fabulous photo MG.

Ren did not say that she was definitely going to dismantle the threads - she said "I am wondering whether to drop the song title one and/or the book title one. Let me know". What is wrong with inviting input from the members who frequent the threads? No need for ruffled feathers as far as I can see. In my opinion, it was a valid comment/question because those threads are not particularly active. The book thread, for example, has had no contributions this month and only two last month. It has only had 12 contributions for the entire year. Comments such as "Ask anyone who isn't afraid of moderators and they'll tell you the same thing" are uncalled for, highly speculative, and unjustifiable.
