I personally love the Book and Song title threads. The Song one used to have a lot of participation and the current one is actually part 2. I would hate to see them go though I do realise there are hardly any posts these days (most of the times, it seems like I'm the only one visiting those).

I personally love the Book and Song title threads. And I am sure that Ren will appreciate your feedback. Personally I don't have strong feelings one way or the other. I have enjoyed them even though I have never participated in those particular threads. I doubt they would be discontinued if enough people were supportive of them.

Thanks so much for your comments, Mother Goose, Mommakat and Sharon. I appreciate that you understood exactly what I was asking. One of my concerns, although I didn't mention it, is overusing our bandwidth. We seemed, as I was thinking about it to have rather a lot of different strands to our forum. I was hoping not to upset the admin here. If it were approved of then I would be only too happy to start a new thread as per Jill's idea. As you said, I never said I intended to close threads , and I never would if and when the dear, kind and oh so supportive and positive contributors to this forum expressed that they wanted them to continue. Thanks again.

inspiration strikes rarely in respect of photo and title going together.
Yeah, same here unfortunately.

I think these are Black Eyed Susans, but if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me.

They are not what I think of as Black-eyed Susans although I suppose in different countries plants might have other common names.
Edit...
Ah, I Googled and yes, this is in some countries.
Rudbeckia hirta Plant Rudbeckia hirta, commonly called black-eyed Susan, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to the Eastern and Central United States. It is one of a number of plants with the common name black-eyed Susan. Wikipedia

I find the music and book title threads to be sort of request-a-pic. You often have to go out in search of a picture that will go with a song or book title that got stuck in your head. Other times, looking through one's photo library will reveal a picture that will go with one title or another. So there may be infrequent additions to those threads but they're often pictures that, when you see them, make you think should have been the cover photo of the book or CD.

I thought a black eyed susan was a kind of bean :? Yours is a much prettier one, Zorba! As others have said .. some of the other threads aren't used that much and as we have to keep the bandwidth in the back of our minds that if we want to try something new then maybe something else has to be culled. Thanks for the feedback, gang. Here is Chip meeting himself for the first time yesterday. He was most worried about where this other dog was. He's not normally allowed in but snuck in when we were moving some furniture and was just so funny that we let him stay for a bit.

I would like to see the restrictions lifted. Post as many as you like. When life is so full of hateful things, it is so nice to see colourful photos and people sharing the good things in life. Why have one a week, one a day, when every day should be filled with sharing the best things in life? Yes, I do not post here often, but I look every day to enjoy the things that other people can offer me. And I am sure I am not the only one on FB that feels this way. One FB member was and who is so kind, helped me through a very tough time in my life. And for that I thank her kindly.
Take care and be well,
Donette

I would be sorry to see those two threads go, not just because they were my idea but because, as CmdrK said, they can be a source of inspiration that makes you go out and search for a picture to match an idea. For example, on my last trip to New York, I went out of my way to get a photo of the street sign at 53rd and 3rd especially for the thread. It's not always possible to post often. I take more photos in summer for example so have more to offer than in the winter when my camera mightn't get used for weeks at a time.
Slightly off topic, I'm told that Jakeroo has been banned from all the forums which disappoints me. Is that to do with this discussion or something else? It would be a shame of someone was banned for speaking their mind or for not expressing themselves well. Like I just didn't...

I don't think that it is appropriate to discuss this publically, nor indeed in private. Sorry.

That blackeyed susan looks like some kind of nasturtium, flopsy? Here they are definitely a daisy-like flower. It's a Thunbergia_alata, a climbing plant. In North America, you use 'Black-eyed Susan' to describe a Rudbeckia, a quite different flower.

Thanks, everyone. I took the picture recently in Poland and happened to see a similar flower on a website identified as a black-eyed susan. When I looked it up on Google, it threw up similar images, so I assumed it was one of the names for it.

I don't think I've posted this one before, a carving of a red squirrel from the grounds of Osbourne House, Isle of Wight. Sadly I didn't get to see the real thing.

Martin, we only have red squirrels here, such sweet tiny little things. You're lucky Sue. Here we only have them in a couple of heavily protected enclaves and a few in wildlife parks - the greys have virtually wiped them out in the wild.

We have no greys at all, and no foxes, nor badgers come to that.
