Hershey recently unveiled its new logo. It dropped the apostrophe and s, replacing it with a stylized version of one of its unwrapped Kisses. And many are decrying it as resembling more the emoji symbol for poop! Perhaps Hershey should have left the foil wrapper on the Kiss! What do you think?

To me it is uninspired and unimaginative. Do Hershey's only make kisses? Perhaps if they spent their money on making the product more interesting. Sorry but it is just a lump of not very good quality chocolate to me.

I can see why people would say that. Don't these designers run their designs past some regular people before going with them?

I'm glad you told me that the last part of the logo is supposed to represent something edible, otherwise I might have thought it was something I'd definitely avoid stepping in! But unless the taste has improved since the last time I ate something made by Hershey, I still won't be buying it!

I'd rather eat a waxwork from Mme Tussaud's. And that thing at the end definitely looks like a heap of something steaming that comes out of cows - and I don't mean the Isle of Wight ferry. wink

Well, to be fair, the actual logo doesn't have eyes or a smiley face and isn't "lumpy". The trouble with graphics is that they are easily manipulated into someone's idea of a "joke".

Hershey's makes lots of things, but they are probably best known for their "kisses" (which I don't personally like) so it's not surprising they would choose it (the logo before had a kiss wrapped in foil, not sure why they changed it, perhaps to keep everything in the "brown chocolate" theme, who knows? lol).

But I must say that the "Kisses" tv commercials during several Olympics were QUITE clever/unique.

After reading these comments, I rushed to see a picture of the new logo. Frankly, I don't particularly care for it but don't see what would make people get so upset. I agree with ren that is is uninspired and unimaginative, but it's okay. It doesn't look like something from a cow pasture to me! confused

I didn't think so either, and I don't mind Hershey's chocolate.

The way I see it is that Hershey's is sure getting noticed with that logo. Isn't that what branding is all about. Being noticed and having people talk about it. What an advertising coup.

There was a little bit of a brouhaha media storm over a British pie maker recently when a link from Google to their logo actually displayed a fake logo saying rude things. Naturally the company was inundated with tweets (and no doubt other messages) about the situation and their poor PR people must have had one of their busiest days ever. Anyway, they handled it brilliantly, with just the right touch of comedy - it almost made me rush out to buy a hot sandwich. It was chronicled in the Daily Telegraph.

Well in may get me noticing, but I don't like their product. Hmmm, now I want a chocolate bar, Cadbury's for me!

Hershey's owns "Eat-More". It's a peanutty-chocolate chewy kinda bar that isn't sweet. It's one of the few Hershey's things I like. That and the fact they bought out Y&S (who used to make licorice Twizzlers amongst other things). They're not the same, but I still buy them anyway. The actual chocolate? Not so much, 'cept maybe the dark chocolate burnt almond bar. Not a fan of milk chocolate, no matter who makes it lol.
