I suppose someone has to be first to post in October. If I do this then it means all following photos will be much better. Anyway, this is at Taiaroa Head at the end of the southern half of the Otago Peninsula. This is the location of the only mainland breeding colony of the royal albatross in the world though they had left when I was there this time.

This is the time of year when gardeners in the northern hemisphere get into autumnal mode and prepare for the winter to follow. In the UK we are actually quite far north so October can be quite a chilly month, leaves fall wholesale from trees, and the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness arrives.

Perhaps someone would like to tell that to the weather. This is my mother's chimney pot bathed in sunshine and still covered in Morning Glory.

Well, as flopsy says, we are having a definite Indian summer, however, there is autumn colour around.

They're growing wild as well, might go out with a basket and see how many I can collect. Redcurrant jelly on lamb - lovely

The middle of Highgate Village. I was born just down the road from here, literally.

Taking a break from the Poland photos for some from my weekend trip.

Coracle boat rides at the Barachukki waterfalls in Karnataka. It felt like the Indian version of Niagara's "Maid of the Mist" but was a lot more adventurous. smile

Oh not me - I've lived here for over twenty years, still haven't nipped down the road to see Woburn Abbey.
