Amazing, and the pub, Martin, how lovely that is. I hope it is preserved well inside too and not full of formica!

A warning.... smile

I have been out trying to take photos of banded dotterels (small shore birds that you cannot get very close to so not great photos if you have a camera like mine...lol). If you are unlucky I will post one later when I am able to do so, in the meantime you can wonder what a banded dotterel looks like. smile

As promised in my above warning, here is a banded dotterel at the Washdyke Lagoon in Timaru. Would be nice to have a much better zoom on the camera but alas, that will not happen for a while. I will just have to stalk birds with the camera I currently have....lol

Have to confess that I've never been inside the pub. I'll have to rectify that, all in the name of
research of course... smile

"Wish you were I was still there"

I went to Budapest for a few days - this is the street where we were staying in the centre of historic Pest. I've just copied over nearly 200 pics from my camera so we may be there for some time!

Next to Heathrow? That must be exciting for the congregants wanting to hear what the minister is saying.

One good tern deserves another.....white-fronted terns at the Washdyke Lagoon that is. Named due to the thin strip of white which separates the black cap from the black bill.

Budapest is one of my favourite cities though I didn't get to spend much time there. Looking forward to your photos, Flopsymopsy.

Teak wood pillars inside Tipu Sultan's summer palace in Bangalore. Tipu Sultan named it Rash-e-Jannat which means the Abode of Happiness and the Envy of Heaven.

I'm glad there are other Budapest lovers here - I thought it was a magnificent city but sadly we didn't have time to do nearly enough and worse, for two of our three main sight-seeing days the weather was miserable so trudging around wasn't pleasant. Still, at least we could dive into cafes whenever necessary. smile

For this photo you have to promise me, before you look, that you'll ignore the sky, particularly on the left. That bit which looks like curtains and the back of a chair is actually... a reflection of curtains and the back of a chair. We had lunch on a boat trip down the Danube and I was too bone idle to leave the warm cabin for a chilly deck in what was about to become drizzle so just be grateful you didn't get a reflection of my dinner! grin

It's surprising how quiet it is around Heathrow besides on the perimeter itself. When I was there yesterday I was on the flight path, they were coming down on the horizon but presumably the wind direction meant you couldn't hear them at all. It tends to be far worse a few miles out on flight path days, they run three a minute or so for a while and move to the next one to spread out the hassle.

Part of my American series, this being in Hanworth. I started them in 1980 and many people commented they looked like America without knowing that was why I took them.

We were staying just round the corner from St Stephen's Basilica, the church at the heart of Ye Olde Pest(e). Oh the bells, the bells, the I do hope those won't go on all night bells! St Stephen was the first King of Hungary, 975 - 1038, whose right hand is kept in a reliquary in a side chapel. I did try to get a photo of that but in this photo he still has his hand so you can all keep your lunch down. Here he's standing behind the high altar:

The great wooden door to St Stephen's Basilica, Budapest - with carved medallions of the twelve Apostles.
