As two of the four quarter-finals ended in a draw, six names went into the barrel for the semi-final draw. Arsenal and Liverpool have avoided each other:

All of these winners were in the Second Division except for Spurs. They weren't even a member of the Football League. Spurs finished 7th in the Division One of the Southern League (Spurs joined The Football League in season 1908-09). Division One of the Southern League left en masse in 1920 and became the Third Division of The Football League.

The expected FA Cup finalists Liverpool v Arsenal did not eventuate. Villa came from behind to beat Liverpool. The other semi finished 1-1 at full-time. Arsenal disposed of Reading in extra time.

PaulE is this round's winner and George95 collects the wooden spoon .. srini701 see his margin out front shaved again, it's now 2 pnts .. and the four players running 2nd to 5th are separated by 5 pts.

The three medallist should come from the first five as the rest of us have too much ground to make up with just one round left. The final round has three picks for 6 pts. If the person in front of you has the same advance picks, you'll struggle to get past him.

Arsenal are playing their 19th cup final (a new record, one more than Manchester United), and have won 11 of them (they won last year's FA Cup Final to equal the record set by Manchester United when they won their 11th in 2004). Arsenal will set a new record for most-wins if they beat Aston Villa.

srini701 and dg_dave retained their spots from the semi-final round and collect the gold and silver medals. They have been 1st or 2nd in the standings for every round of the tipping comp except one, Round 1b.

srini701 was one of four who finished the season as weekly winners with 14/16 (they all missed Aston Villa as a finalist) .. paper_aero was one of those four (his first weekly win) and, with that final run along the rails to the finish post, snatched the bronze medal from BxBarracuda.

FussBudget also scored his first weekly win .. for ozzz2002 it was his third. He shares the honours with srini701 for the most weekly wins.

In the final round last year, PaulE was the only player who kept his spot from the previous round. He did it again this year .. wwe84 was the other person who kept their spot from the previous round (apart from the first two). It was musical chairs for the rest of us, which is expected in the early rounds of a tipping comp but highly unusual for the final round.

N-Bomb established a new personal low for the season. He collected the final wooden spoon with 1/16 and fell to the bottom rung; a new low for the season. His solitary point came from picking Manchester United to win (you will notice that this Gunner did not pick his team with any advance pick, or any of his three picks for the final).

Although he won the award for most wooden spoons, Dizart finished with a flourish. His picks of 10/16 (with the bonus point on top), saw him climb off the bottom rung for the first time this season. He has been there since day zero.

This was Arsenal's 12th FA Cup triumph, a new record. Next on the all-time winners list is Manchester United with 11 wins and Spurs with 8 wins, followed by Liverpool, Chelsea and Villa with 7 apiece, Newcastle and Blackburn with 6 each, and three teams with 5 each: Everton, WBA and Manch City (these eleven teams have won 63 of the 134 FA Cups contested since the first one in 1872).

For the record, since 1889 only seven teams have won the FA Cup final in the same season they were crowned champions of England.

There have been eleven Doubles by those seven teams since The Football League began in 1888-89 (see list at right).

This year's FA Cup competition was the 13th edition here at FT. The defending title holder was KrivoyRog and dg_dave was last year's silver medallist (PaulE collected the bronze medal).

Back in 2010, srini701 became the first player to retain his title. This year he becomes the first to win the FA Cup comp three times. The three who have won this twice are: halfbakedangi (2004 and 2006), PaulE (2007 and 2013) and KrivoyRog (2011 and 2014).
