The next day, the lion made these statements:

3. I lied yesterday.
4. The 15th is one of my lying days.

What day is it (both number and day of the week)?

HotdogPi obviously finds these problems easy to solve, and wishes to offer more difficult items. His Alice 6 consists of a puzzle several steps in advance of Alice 5, and perhaps it's time to move on to such a problem. In offering items like this based on the work of Raymond Smullyan and other similar authors, my aim was to introduce them to anyone interested. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with this type of logic problem, I wanted to begin with easier items, and then continue with items of gradually increasing complexity, just as Smullyan does in his books. I'll be most interested in any solutions that appear to Alice 6. Meanwhile, I'll be off the air for a time - family illness. Best wishes to you all who've attempted these little puzzles.

The second day ("today") is Thursday the 11th.

(3) means there must have been a change in lying habit between today and yesterday. So it's a Thursday or a Monday.
If it were a Monday, today must be the 13th or 14th (1). In neither case could the lion (4) claim the 15th to be a lying day.
So it's a Thursday and (2) the 11th or 12th. If it were the 12th, (4) the 15th would be a Sunday and not a lying day.

Which leaves us Thursday the 11th.
