I have a question concerning three of my trivia games. They're called It's All In Barcelona [barcelona (#23618)]; It's All In Brussels [brussels (#23894)] and It's All In Paris [paris (#24771)]

When I created these games, I put them up in the category 'Cities of the World', which I found a very appropriate category.
The paris quiz has recently been changed to the 'Western Europe' category (a rather obscure category way in the back of Geography) and the two others are supposedly listed in 'Specific City Trivia', a category that seems to be completely hidden, since I can not track it down in Geography or in History.
My questions are: why did these games change categories, why did they not all get in the same category, why were they removed from 'Cities of the World' and where is this 'Specific City Trivia' category?

Thank you,

PJDQ

I don't know, either, but this member has a valid question on the face of it. Will an editor please adddress the issue and see what's what?

I found an answer to one of my questions: the 'Specific City Trivia' category seems to be located under the World main category.

That still leaves three other questions, and additionally I wonder what the difference is between 'Cities of the World' and 'Specific City Trivia'.

On the subject of categories, in the Music section there is "The 90s" and also "Music Of The 90s", and what is the difference between "General Music Quizzes" and "Miscellaneous Music"?

That reminds me: why is a quiz about Estonia in the Western Europe category, and not in the category Eastern Europe. Or did someone moved the country without telling anyone?

PJDQ, I'm not ignoring you, I'm trying to ascertain the correct answers for your questions, which are reasonable queries.

The best I can do about why the seeming duplicate sub-categories exist is simply that each editor probably had a similar idea and created a sub-cat for it. I'm not going to stifle their creative spirit and tell them they can't do it; I'm simply going to suggest they coordinate their efforts and try to avoid direct duplication.

Why they got to different places? Again, more than one editor in a category will have a different idea of where to send something. I don't expect them to coordinate on every quiz; they'd be bogged down completely. However, there's no reason you, as the quiz creator, could not query the editor directly from the quiz about this and ask that they at least be put together in one place. You'll find our editors are very nice people and quite responsive to recommendations from players and quiz creators.

I'm sorry I don't have something more definite for you, but I won't make an authoritarian site out of what is intended as a fun area. I assure you the players will find your quizzes, no matter where they are, and are quite used to searching all the areas that fit their particular interests.

Dear Gunslinger,

Thank you for keeping the issue alive.

Although it maybe would be wise to address yakko, minch and thejazz directly (these are the editors involved with Geography and World), I feel it would be a lot more useful to keep this discussion here on the Forum.

I am well aware that editors make choices and have various reasons to do so, but I would like to see these reasons posted right here. That way, other players and creators can learn something from the way editors work. They all do marvellous work, by the way.
