An old London Transport sign using their own design and font, possibly made at the time Morden station was built in 1926

One of the trips away recently involved a long dirt road after a little bit of rain. The water had puddled on the road but hadn't rained enough to puddle in the paddocks so all the kangaroos in the western division came to have a drink off the road. I had never seen anything quite like the numbers of them and it made driving especially tricky!

Wow! That would be something to see!

Loving all the photos, and have to say to Howie that I'm amazed at just how much those Canada geese get around! I've always found them quite happy to have their photos taken too.

Here's a nice wintry photo from this afternoon - Christmas trees in a parking lot near me, waiting to be taken home and decorated.

Love the Christmas Trees with snow already on them. We use spray bottles to get that effect down here!

The route I took today was a mixture of industrial and housing estates. This was one of the rare gaps, the River Colne at Batchworth

The Niederwalddenkmal, a 38m monument to the representing the union of all Germans, in the Niederwald Landscape Park near Rudesheim am Rhein. Construction began in 1871 and inauguration in 1883. The statue of Germania (10.5m tall) holds the recovered crown of the emperor in the right hand and the Imperial Sword in the left hand. The main inscription says "ZUM ANDENKEN AN DIE EINMUETIGE SIEGREICHE ERHEBUNG DES DEUTSCHEN VOLKES UND AN DIE WIEDERAUFRICHTUNG DES DEUTSCHEN REICHES 1870-1871." - ("In memory of the unanimous victorious uprising of the German People and of the reinstitution of the German Empire 1870-1871").

I can take photos at night now I've worked the settings out but can't stop the rain on the camera. The centre of Kingsbury by the station.

At last I came across a new bird, one I had been looking for at the Otipua Wetlands on a few occasions but never seen one until today. May I present the royal spoonbill, you should be able to figure why it is called a spoonbill. smilee

I'd pretty much given up the idea of completing the pre-1964 symbols as even though the red prohibition circles had been on a number of signs still around they'd all gone for some reason, two left in the west country on cycling prohibited signs and a couple in Scotland and that was it. The hollow red circles were as rare but luckily two were in London so ticked off the list even though they were removed so quickly at the time I don't even remember seeing them on the road either. The triangles were everywhere but so few left now there are only a handful in the south of England I managed to get to.

I was out for a little walk in the sun today and took the road round the park after half way round for a change, and on the way back something caught my eye at the side of the road, too faded to read and the red circle above looking like a no cycling sign would had the paint worn off, but as I got closer I couldn't see any remnants of text, and realised I'd finally found a red circle only a mile or so from where I live. Then I read the sign below, not only a proper road sign but one I didn't have as it had the final line added about pushing bicycles. There's another the other end of the path minus the circle but my collection now has the most valuable part completed.

It's not festive, but it's made my Christmas already (OK, it doesn't take much grin): I earned my 'fleche noir' (grade) last night at archery :

Well done, Santana!

We finished shearing yesterday. Don't normally do it at this time of year and with the heat the way it is it was a good job to get over and done with.

It always reminds me of The Thorn Birds when I see photos of the shearing at Copago station!

The park in Kingsbury where my aunt and uncle used to take their dogs since the 70s. She still lives there but is about to move to the coast. I've probably posted it before but this is from the other side.
