What a happy coincidence, I just set up our Advent Calendar for this year, not the usual chocolates or lego or other classic fillers. This year our calendar reflects the changing family dynamics. The "kids" (two of them at any rate) are bona-fide adults and can now legally enjoy the contents.

We have decided to have an all grown-up advent calendar, with lots of yummy, boozy treats, to help us cope with the season. Red wine, white wine, cider, white beer, kriek ... you name it, a bottle of it is somewhere to be found amongst this lot:

(hic)

OK, we did include some Ferrero Rochers around the tree decoration, as the youngest is still underage ...

Not one but TWO precious gifts, one each for me and Mum, made by a very dear friend who I had the opportunity of meeting two years ago. The stockings are all handmade, and will be kept for many years to come smile xxx

Our tree is up and it looks like someone has primed the pump, so to speak, in hopes of more.

Maynooth decided to switch from multi-coloured lights to blue this year.

How do you decorate a cactus for Christmas? Something like this.

This is at Ethel's Cactus Garden near Las Vegas. They light up all their dozens of trees and cacti each Christmas. It's quite a show, and very difficult to photograph.

I have to admit there's something fake in this photo. *Shock* *Horror*

It's the snow.

Anyway, here's one of my visiting penguins. Now, come on, stop muttering in the back row. There's nothing fake about penguins visiting Northampton, happens all the time I tell you!

A timely suggestion for a new theme: anything "new" ... but it could be used at some other stage if you've already got January's theme chosen, ren wink

Thanks Toni. I was foundering a bit. We have had "New" about 3 times now, so I was wondering how to disguise it.But what the heck, new again it is!
