.

  • Several tippers had perfect Wild Card Rounds, and 4 of those 5 picked Seattle to win the Super Bowl, with only gtho4 taking Dallas. Besides that pick, Seattle, Denver, and New England were the only teams tipped for the Super Bowl. N-Bomb is the only tipper without a conference champion advance pick after one week, as he took Pittsburgh as his AFC Champion.

  • The playoffs started with... well... a bit of a dud, as Carolina took down Arizona 27-16. The first half gave us a good game, with Arizona up 14-13. However, the second half was one of the ugliest halves of playoff football you may ever see. Following Carolina going up 20-14, Tedd Ginn fumbled on the kickoff and Carolina scored again to make it 27-14. In the fourth quarter, Carolina tried to get Arizona back into the game by fumbling at the Carolina 38, which Arizona took advantage of by throwing an interception on the first play. Two possessions later, Carolinas punter fumbled, to which Arizona came back and threw another interception 3 plays later.

  • With Pittsburgh losing LeVeon Bell before the game, the Steelers managed 68 rushing yards, coupled with Roethlisbergers two interceptions ended with Baltimore opening up a 20-9 lead in the third quarter. Although Pittsburgh closed to within 20-15 early in the 4th, Baltimore went back up 30-15 and a late safety led to the final of 30-17 Ravens.

  • Another tale of two halves, as Indianapolis was up 13-10 at halftime. At that time, Cincinnati decided to stop scoring and the Colts took a 26-10 victory into the Divisional Round. Andy Dalton became only the second starting quarterback to lose his first 4 postseason starts, following in the footsteps of Y.A. Tittle.

  • In a much different tale of two halves, Detroit owned the first half against Dallas 17-7. The Cowboys stormed back to only be down 20-17, and the Lions were driving in Dallas territory on a 3rd and 1. A pass to Brandon Pettigrew was broken up by the Cowboys Anthony Hitchens, who made contact with his hands raised and not looking at the quarterback. A flag for pass interference was thrown and the penalty announced, but then the referees picked up the flag. After the game, it was announced that the referees did miss a defensive holding call on the play. The Lions elected to not go for it on 4th and 1, and after a delay of game got a mere 10-yard punt, leading to a Dallas touchdown on the next possession. On their final possession, Matt Stafford fumbled on a 4th and 3, giving Dallas the final victory.

    .

  • George95 and Sypher both take the lead by 3 as nobody picked Indianapolis over Denver, and they got the other 3 games correct. gtho4, themonarch, and wwe84, all previously tied for first, all picked Dallas over Green Bay. In doing so, gtho4 lost his NFC champion and Super Bowl winner. ozzz2002 and LeoDaVinci both lost their Super Bowl picks in Denver, and ozzz is the first tipper to lose every advance pick although he can still get a new advance Super Bowl pick.

  • Through most of the first quarter, it looked as if Baltimore might run away with the victory. However, down 14-0 Tom Brady scrambled for a TD, tying the franchise record for rushing touchdowns. After tying the game at 14, the Ravens put together a 41-second touchdown drive to go up 21-14 at half. Baltimore went up 14 again early in the 2nd half, but then their offense stalled. New England answered with a touchdown, and followed it up with a trick play touchdown to tie the game at 28. Brady later set the NFL playoff record for most passing touchdowns as the Patriots went up 35-31, and held that lead until the end.

  • Seattle and Carolina played a fairly even first half, with the Seahawks up 14-10 at the break. A scoreless third quarter led to a Seattle field goal to start the 4th quarter, and the floodgates opened up. Russell Wilson passed to Luke Willson for a touchdown to go up 24-10. Cam Newton was intercepted by Kam Chancellor for a touchdown to seal the game 31-10. A late, inconsequential TD drew the game slightly closer, but Seattle won easily 31-17.

  • In the Cowboys first playoff trip to Green Bay since the Ice Bowl, the teams enjoyed temps about 30 degrees warmer than the -13 they were treated to in that classic matchup. After an even first quarter, Dallas got a long touchdown pass and a late Packer field goal gave the Cowboys a 14-10 lead at half. Another Cowboys touchdown put them up 21-13, but Green Bay responded with a touchdown of their own to make it 21-20. On their next possession, Green Bay scored again but failed a 2-point conversion, leaving them up 26-20. Dallas charged down the field and on a 4th and 2 appeared to complete a deep pass near the goal line, but it was ruled that Dez Bryant did not have control of the ball to the ground, giving the Packers the ball. Two first downs later, Green Bay kneeled out the clock and prepared for a trip to Seattle.

  • With all 3 other favorites winning, nobody seemed to give Indianapolis a chance, including any of the tippers in this comp. An early Denver touchdown did nothing to dissuade from that opinion, but in the 2nd quarter two Colts touchdowns put them up 14-7. A late Broncos field goal closed the gap to 14-10. An early 3rd quarter TD put Indianapolis up 21-10, and Denver couldnt get anything the remainder of the quarter. Field goals by both teams made it 24-13, and Peyton Manning wasnt sharp enough to make a comeback against his former team, making that the final score.

  • Tippers that need a new Super Bowl advance pick: gtho4, ozzz2002, LeoDaVinci, and BxBarracuda.

  • More chalk means that George95 and Sypher are still tied at the top, although Sypher will win if it comes down to the 4th tiebreaker, as he was only 4 points off as compared to Georges 11. themonarch takes over third by himself, as both wwe84 and gtho4 chose Indianapolis. All of the top 4 and 8 of the top 9 have Seattle as their Super Bowl champion, with gtho4 being the only other as he tried to salvage 2 points with Indianapolis. Mustang and illiniman14 are the top tippers who picked New England as their advance Super Bowl pick, but 9 points back it may be too late to catch back up.

  • After the first quarter, Green Bay led 13-0 and Seattle didnt even have a first down. After the second quarter, Green Bay led 16-0 and Seattle had 3 first downs. The Seahawks finally broke through with a fake field goal touchdown pass to make it 16-7. Just before the 2 minute warning, Seattle closed the gap to 19-14, but needed to convert an onside kick to have any chance. Luckily, Green Bays Brandon Bostick muffed the catch and Seattle did indeed recover the kick, and a mere 3 plays later took the lead on a Beast Mode touchdown. Needing a two-point conversion to go up 3, Seattle called a pass, and after Russell Wilson scrambled around, he threw up a prayer against his body, and horrible coverage gave Seattle the 2 points. Never saying die, the Packers drove down the field and hit a 48-yard field goal to tie the game at 22 into overtime. Seattle won the toss, and on a 3rd and 7 got a 35-yard pass. The next play, Jermaine Kearse flew down the middle and nabbed another 35-yard catch for the game-winning touchdown.

  • Indianapolis and New England showed no similar theatrics. New England went up 14-0 early, and Indianapolis tried to close the gap at 14-7. However, a 21-point outburst in the third quarter gave the Patriots a 38-7 lead, and another touchdown in the fourth gave them an easy rout to enter the Super Bowl. Tom Brady became the winningest quarterback and Bill Belichick became the winningest coach in playoff history.

  • It came down to the wire, and depended all on one decision that determined the champion. Well talk about the game later, but for now Sypher comes out the winner as he wins on the third tiebreaker. He is victorious over George95, who shared the top spot for the first 3 rounds, by picking 48 total points in the Super Bowl over Georges 47 (there were 52 in the game). Congratulations!

  • Similarly, the 3rd place spot came down to tiebreakers, as two unexpected tippers bolted based on their faith in the Patriots. In the end, it was Mustang taking the bronze, as he picked New England to score first, and illiniman14 took Seattle.

  • After a scoreless first half, Tom Brady broke the tie with his first touchdown pass on the evening. Seattle would answer just before the two-minute warning, as Marshawn Lynch proved to everyone he could run into the end zone from the 3-yard line (good info to know). With 31 seconds left in the first half, Brady connected to Gronkowski to give the Pats a 14-7 lead. A quick drive by Seattle ended with an 11-yard touchdown by Russell Wilson to knot things up at 14 for halftime, just as paper_aero predicted.

  • The third quarter was all Seattle. An early field goal was followed with a Seahawks touchdown, and Seattle went up 24-14. But the Patriots werent done yet. A third Brady touchdown pass came with 8 minutes left. A Seattle 3-and-out and 9 Tom Brady passes later (interrupted by 2 runs), and he had 4 touchdown passes on the day, and New England had a 28-24 lead with just over 2 minutes left.

  • In 4 plays, Seattle had the ball at the New England 38. Suddenly, Wilson chucked a ball up towards Jermaine Kearse, and it got tipped away and harmlessly incomple... wait, whats that? It got knocked away, hit Kearses legs, and he caught it before it hit the ground! The Patriots are only 5 yards away from losing 3 Super Bowls all due to unbelievable catches. Marshawn Lynch took a carry to the 1-yard line. Now all they have to do is run it in to be back-to-back champions...

  • AND THEY THREW IT! crazy INTERCEPTION! sick PATRIOTS WIN! cool

  • As the game started at 10:00am Monday morning downhere, most of watched the highlights on Monday night when we got home. I watched that throw on three different channels. What was wrong with a simple run-in? We'll never know!
