Well, Celebrity big brother is back on the telly on Channel 5 in the UK. The housemates are a mixed bunch of transalantic people. There is a fair bit of stereotyping going on from one snotty housemate who said: 'i hate fat people....i hate people on the dole cos they're lazy' and 'i hate ginger people'. Not everyone out of work is lazy, she doesn't seem to realise how some of these people got into this position and makes a mockery of people with mental health problems who struggle with work and people with learning difficulties. I have Dyspraxia, and struggle with work. To say i am lazy is ridiculous though....I get up in the morning, i walk for miles in the countryside at least twice a week and also do walks with my brother who is also out of work and does exercises everyday and has lost loads of weight plus built up muscle, i used to cycle for miles on Moors and Wolds and still do some cycling, and i volunteered on and off your years amongst people with learning disabilites. I am also a bit fat....but not ginger....that would be a hat trick for her ignorance! The last one is the most stupid: 'i hate ginger people...' you may as well say 'i hate the sky' people can't help their genetical make up!! I think Nadia was right to challenge her, but she seems so far up herself that she thinks she can justify her opnions which are built on stereotyping not logic...

Pay no heed to Katie Hopkins. She is a throwback from the Thatcher-80s-self-ish generation. She loves to judge! She makes a career out of being a right royal pain. smile

That said, she is coming across as the most sane and likeable of the whole bunch. I am addicted to the show this year, having not watched it for a few years - it is deadly dull but fascinating fodder for social commentary type thoughts. Isn't it a blast that they have spent five days getting worked up about offensive speech? Oh my god, someone said something that might sound a little bit sexist, what a homophobe, the racist pig. Etc... Quite funny to watch the storms in a teacup. They are all going mad - except Callum, but this must be his tenth reality show by now and he knows the ropes.

Love it.

Oh good!

I hope Chloe gets evicted. She is the most boring and far too bestfriendy with Cami who is a tinderbox, isn't she? I think without Chloe to keep her safe, she will ignite dramatically and then the Hunger Games will commence for real! wink

Perez is a pain. I find him irritating, he acts really pretencious. I looked online cos stupidly i thought he must be related to Paris hilton, well he has nothing to do with her, he is just infatuated with her so he has done a mockery of her name as his nickname, Perez hilton isn't even his real name. I had never heard of him before, as is the case with some of the other housemates. I think Chloe is quite juevenile, it was funny when she showed her [censored] but it was pathetic how upset perez acted about it, he's a total drama queen. Cami Li is a bit weird too, a bit juevenile. I quite like Nadia, i think she's quite down to earth and seems with it but she shouldn't take advice off Perez. It's a good show, it's interesting how people interact with each other.

Have any of you read or seen "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury? A version of big brother is how all the mindnumb social citizens interact. The teleplay/ongoing open phone/video conference is called "The Family" and each of the watchers/participants are termed 'cousins'.

On a side note, I think it is a creativity stifling theocracy like sharia that could bring about a society such as the one in "Fahrenheit 451" where real creativity is banned and all books (which inspire creativity) are to be burned. So, I think TV's Big Brother owes more of its success to Ray Bradbury than to George Orwell and 1984 "Big Brother". And if we are not vigilant and actively protective of our rights, our creativity could be denied. IMHO smile JsuisC

I think these TV shows highlight how good various authors were at capturing something about human behaviour; perhaps it is the fragility of order and harmony, and the propensity to spiral very quickly into madness.

It has gone a little off the boil (for me) since Jordan walked in. If ever there was an example of over exposure, it is her! Not only do I not want to hear her tuppence worth on any topic, unfortunately I probably already know everything about her, despite having never tried to know anything. Ugh. No offence meant to her, she can do what she likes and is probably nice, but I feel my personal space has been invaded by her insistence on being in the public eye 24/7. I've had enough of her.

Meanwhile, it is hard to choose a housemate to like. I kind of like the fact that while they have all gone insane, Patsy Kensit has gone insane with a sense of humour.

I don't like Perez in it, but i think it's well out of order that he seems to be getting bullied in it by the main ringleader Katie Hopkins, a woman i despise. It is double standards and makes me mad how Perez can get a warning for threatening someone yet when Hopkins does it to him she gets away with it....and Alexander o neal, i'm glad he's gone he was acting like a wannabe gangster he needs to grow up if all he can say is 'boo hoo! i dodn't want Perez breathing in my food'. The whole show has got a playground mentality full of juevenile gossips....three have gone out already without being even evicted, i think things will need to change after this show. No one dare say anything for fear of being politically incorrect which is petty too, but the state of society now even if something is said in a positive way it can be turned right around. It seems typical of this show, someone takes a dislike to someone, then turns everyone else against them and makes them feel low by constantly being on their case. If I was Perez i think i would have left by now.

I think I know exactly what you mean. Perez was picking on Alexander for no discernible reason ("picking on" being a playground word and therefore suitable!) so I could see why Alexander flipped over it - Perez was being very sneaky about it and then claiming innocence and hurt - so pathetic. But suddenly K Hopkins starts trailing around behind him, like an out of control prison guard, and I began to feel sorry for Perez! The entire debacle is embarrassing for all, I'd imagine. I'd feel embarrassed having to explain it to children, embarrassed that they might think that grown ups act like this in the real world. If this was a documentary about out of control 13 year olds, I'd still be shocked. smile

Is that the same Katie Hopkins who is on the show "Fat and Back" about a really judgmental woman who thinks fat people are lazy and eat too much?

Yes, that's her. I'm sure half her views are a media persona as basically without that she's nothing. But she never seemed sincere and really seemed more like she was laying it on so much as she tested people's credibility. But she's quite decent and reasonable in there, she has a temper but under the circumstances that's hardly surprising, but only turns nasty in response to others, unlike Perez who is going to come undone sooner or later.

I was disgusted to see Ken thrown out for simply repeating a couple of banned words, one of which I saw afterwards as a dictionary definition here. Like the similar medical words they became outlawed in the 80s despite being normal and officially used until then, which of course he would have grown up with being much older than any of the others. That was a blood sacrifice to me and may well have also wrecked his career for absolutely no reason. Nadia as Katie said is acting as the PC thought police and hopefully will have lost a lot of support for being so obnoxious, although I had never seen her before as I don't watch East Enders and only saw her sister. But so far I think there's been more chaos than ever before in CBB at least, but do wonder if any of it is stirred up by the producers, although if it had been no one would have been thrown out as they would only have been following instructions. But as has been observed, these are not just grown up people but extremely successful ones, and half are acting like spoilt children. I see Keith and Katie H reaching the end so far, and unfortunately possibly Perez as many people like the drama.

I really don't know who is going to win this year. Cheggers is a safe bet, but Michelle and Callum are both likeable. I would hedge my bet on Katie Hopkins winning, although I can't stand her or what she stands for.

It's thePerez show, it's the Perez show! How catchy is that jingle, lol!

Double eviction tomorrow night. I am hedging my bet on Katie Price and Kav leaving the house.

Watch this space!

I reckon that Perez will win, no matter how annoying he is, and how keen he is to alienate himself from everybody by his stupid behaviour, which is probably a well planned attention seeking act. I'm getting sick of Cheggers...he is trying to assert himself but it's too late, there's only this week left. He used to have a laugh at everything but now he's changed.

I'm not in step with the voting public as Nadia was my favourite housemate and she was my 'winner', but I think Michelle was an obvious potential winner from Day One and is now the only one in there who deserves to win. She is right-on and has the ability to be peacemaker, comfort giver, fun maker, argumentative, knows who she really is, not threatened by other people, willing to join in with everything, not scared of conflict because she has the strength and brains to stand her ground without having to step on anyone else to do it. Her only drawback - from my personal point of view - is that she is best friends with Katie Hopkins, who cannot go a day without pouring poison in somebody's ear.

Michelle to win!

Hopkins...ugh, what a tragedy of a human.

Perez is so obnoxious. I don't know how they've restrained themselves as much as they have. Only Nadia understood how to deal with him, and I think that is because she is a generous person who sees into people's hearts.

As for Ken, he was odd, and although the first two or three days were spent on a group witch hunt (so weird) and he was therefore part of the group kill, he certainly had the option to tone down his bizarre behaviour but refused. He chose to be obnoxious. A strange choice. Glad he went.

How is that different to Perez? Well, Perez doesn't really choose it. Perez is very messed up and falls into bad behaviour as a defence mechanism. He needs a lot of therapy.

After the anti-climax of Jordan winning celeb big B, we had the enormous anticlimax of normal big B, which I only watched because I hate myself. Such bad, bad TV. An astute summary in the Daily Telegraph: Click here to read.

I thought I heard the irritating Emma Willis say that Celeb Big B would start next month. What? It's an endless merry-go-round now. Next year, I fully expect big B to be a 365 day show with new people voted in and out each week or even day. How miserable this show has become.
