The Wests Tigers had last won in round 8 but they began round 14 in fine style by running out convincing winners over South Sydney. The Roosters scored a last minute try after a horrendous error to beat a Warriors side that once again let a good lead slip, making it four home losses in six matches. Gold Coast proved that size does not matter with speed beating the much bigger Canterbury Bulldogs side to take the Titans into the top eight. An under strength Melbourne lost at home to Parramatta, a 77th minute try proving to be the winner though the Storm almost snatched it in the final minute but were just centimetres short of the goal line. This now leaves the second State of Origin match that was played in neutral Melbourne. The NSW Blues outplayed the Queensland Maroons and in the process scored their most points since 2009, dodgy refereeing decisions costing both teams but it sets up a potential thrilling decider in Brisbane.Davjack, BxBarracuda were running on default fuel this week.No one thought West Tigers would destroy the Rabbitohs and it set the trend for the remaining matches with every match getting a strike rate of less than 50% in correct tips.With our poor tipping efforts, the weekly win went to wwe84, illiniman14, George95 and Sypher with just 2/5. The remaining six of us took home spoons with 1/5.Sypher joins N-Bomb at the top of the table with just a one point margin over illiniman14 in third place. This is Sypher's first taste of the top spot of the podium and he has a commanding advantage at this stage of the season in Hall of Fame vs Wall of Shame differential. The regular defaulters remain at the bottom of the table.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery. |

Friday night began with a battle between two of the lower placed teams with Manly outlasting the Wests Tigers but it still left the Sea Eagles at the bottom of the table. The Cliffhanger in Canberra saw the visiting North Queensland Cowboys, the Houdini of the NRL, once again snatch a victory in the last minute with a field goal giving them 11 wins in a row. Gold Coast held a four point half time lead but a perfect start to the second half saw the visiting Warriors score three tries in a 12 minute spell and never looked back, running away at the end. Canterbury Bulldogs overcame an injury depleted Penrith Penrith in an entertaining and spiteful clash which saw several first half flare ups between the two sides. Cronulla twice came from 10 points down to edge Newcastle by 2 points condemning the home side to a fourth consecutive loss and their ninth in the last ten games. Brisbane travelled to Melbourne with an eight game losing streak on the line and on the back of a stubborn defensive effort left with just their second win in Melbourne since 2003. The Sydney Roosters held off a fast finishing St George who were down by 10 points inside the final 10 minutes, a length of the field try set up a frantic finish with the Dragons throwing everything at the Roosters at the end except the kitchen sink but could not cross for a try, maybe the kitchen sink should have been used.BxBarracuda was running on default fuel this week.A much better tipping week with everyone above 50% which included all of us picking the Bulldogs victory over the Panthers.Sypher and paper_aero were the outstanding tippers this time with perfect rounds of 7/7 earning them a weekly win and a bonus point each. A handful of us earned spoons with 4/7 being Dizart, illiniman14, N-Bomb, Davjack and Howie72.Sypher takes over first place by himself with his perfect round and opens up the biggest lead of the season over paper_aero whose perfect round took him from sixth place to second. This means N-Bomb drops off the top spot of the podium for the first time in 15 rounds. Davjack is welcomed back but his spoon means he remains at the bottom, not able to overtake the defaulting BxBarracuda.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery. |

Three sets of brothers played in the Souths vs Manly match but it was the Rabbitohs players that had bragging rights with a comfortable victory leaving the Sea Eagles at the bottom of the table. Brisbane Broncos won big at home over Newcastle to remain atop the standings but lost their best front row forward to a season ending achilles injury. The Warriors also won big at home to the Canberra Raiders, consolidating a top 8 spot heading into their second bye. North Queensland Cowboys were up 18-0 at half time over Cronulla and looking good to win their 12th in a row but the Sharks had other ideas and bit back, scoring 24 unanswered points in the second half to shock their hosts. Parramatta turned around a bad week in which they had almost as many players out injured than were on the field and issues over whether Kieran Foran would still join them next season by holding tough and defeating the St George Dragons. In an error-ridden match, the Sydney Roosters just did enough to beat an injury-depleted Gold Coast Titans. The fur was flying and the claws were out at Leichhardt Oval but it was the visiting Panthers that outclassed the home team Tigers. The Canterbury Bulldogs returned to the Belmore Sports Ground in the Sydney suburbs and celebrated with a powerful performance in dominating Melbourne, the Storm scoring their only points in the 79th minute.BxBarracuda, Davjack and Sypher were all running on default fuel this week.We started the round in fine form with all of us tipping the Friday night matches (Souths and Brisbane victories) correctly but it fell apart on Saturday as no one predicted North Queensland or St George to lose.gtho4 and ozzz2002 took home the weekly wins with 6/8 while George95 was underwhelming with his 2/8 and subsequent spoon. It is a season leading 8th weekly win for gtho4.More changes at the top thanks in part to an absent Sypher running on default as he is joined at the top by gtho4 and paper_aero, wiping out a three point lead in one round. N-Bomb is pushed off the podium for the first time but is only one point back. At the bottom it is still BxBarracuda and Davjack.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery. |

Friday night saw Penrith miss more than 40 tackles but despite that they defended their goal line superbly and the Rabbitohs could not find a way through until a consolation try near the end. Saturday saw both sides missing star players but it was North Queensland who came out on top over St George in Wollongong, making a fourth loss in a row for the home side who now must be getting concerned about making the finals. Manly outclassed Cronulla on Sunday to take them temporarily off the bottom of the table but dropped back on Monday once Newcastle were awarded their two points for the bye. Despite a first half deficit, the Paramatta Eels overcame the West Tigers after a good run of second half penalties in their favour and a fifth straight multi-try game from Semi Radradra. Now for what promised to be a tough and close third State of Origin match in Brisbane. Queenland turned up but we are still waiting for New South Wales to turn up after the Maroons record breaking flogging of the Blues. The 52 points was just the second time in origin history a team has scored at least 50 points and the winning margin of 46 points was the biggest ever. What will happen in 2016? Only time will tell.BxBarracuda, Davjack and Sypher were all running on default fuel this week.We started the round poorly with no one predicting the Panthers to outclass the Rabbitohs and it did not get much better. We had a strike rate of just 25% heading into the State of Origin and this improved considerably with 7 of us tipping Queensland.paper_aero and N-Bomb were the weekly winners and the only ones to get more than 50% with 3/5. We have our first pointless week and that honour goes to George95, ozzz2002 would have joined him with 0/5 but for seeing the light and joining the Queensland band wagon, the less said about this the better before people realise and kick him out of Sydney.paper_aero takes over sole possession of the lead while Sypher's default score of 0 takes him off the podium and replaced once again by N-Bomb. At the bottom it is still BxBarracuda and Davjack.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery though with defaults. |

In round 13 Canberra recorded a big 44-22 win over Newcastle and it looked like it would be much bigger this time when the Raiders took a 36-6 lead after 51 minutes, then the Knights started their comeback but it was too little and too late. The Roosters travelled to the foot of the Blue Mountains and out climbed Penrith for their fourth win in a row. Brisbane outlasted Canterbury in tough conditions to maintain their lead in the standings and leave the Bulldogs facing a tough end to the season to maintain a top eight finals place. The Warriors continued their usual Origin period run with a good win at home to Melbourne, the Storm now having lost four in a row. It is not very often that rugby league makes the Sports Centre top 10 plays in the USA but if you get the chance to see the second try from Tuimoala Lolohea you will see why it did with the Nathan Friend 'pass between the legs while hanging upside down over the back of the opposition defender' trick. St George Dragons continue to plummet down the table with yet another loss, this time to the resurgent Cronulla Sharks. Manly Sea Eagles took flight at the Gold Coast to record their biggest win of the season and keep their play-off hopes alive, overtaking their hosts in the process.BxBarracuda, Davjack and Sypher were all running on default fuel this week.It was a much better tipping round with all of us starting well by picking the Canberra Raiders at home. It was not until the last two games of the round where most of us struck trouble and the games dropped below a 50% success.N-Bomb makes it two weekly wins in a row and is joined by ozzz2002 and George95 with 5/6. Dizart and Howie72 managed to earn spoons with 3/6, giving Howie72 his seventh of the season.With his weekly win, N-Bomb joins paper-aero at the top with gtho4 a point back. At the bottom it is still BxBarracuda and Davjack.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery though with defaults. |

After a scrappy first half the Eels saw their finals play-off hope slip further away in the second half as the Bulldogs had too much bite for Parramatta while running in four tries in that period. Penrith would be wishing they did not travel to Melbourne as the hosts scored five tries in each half to demolish them by 42 points in their best display of the season. Controversy marred the end of the Canberra's match against Cronulla, a try was awarded in the last minute which would have won the match for Cronulla but it was somehow overturned by the video referees much to the Raiders delight. The delight disappeared when they realised the video referees had awarded a penalty to the Sharks to send the game into extra time where the Sharks were first to kick a field goal to win the match. Newcastle ended a six match losing streak with the help of a Gold Coast team that did not appear to want to keep hold of the ball. Two late tries sealed a victory for the Rabbitohs over St George, consigning the Dragons to a 6th loss in a row. The Sydney Roosters outplayed and overpowered an ineffectual Warriors side for a 5th consecutive win, keeping the Warriors scoreless in the process. League leaders Brisbane opened up a commanding 26-0 half time lead over Wests before the Tigers scored three tries in nine minutes just after half time, however the Broncos replied with three more of their own to win comfortably in the end. North Queensland travelled to Sydney to take on Manly on Monday night and left with an 8th away win in a row, outclassing their hosts and cementing second place in the standings.BxBarracuda, Davjack and Sypher were all running on default fuel this week.Two matches were tipped correctly by everyone being the Melbourne and Brisbane home wins.An impressive 7/8 was enough to see weekly wins go to wwe84 (6th) and Dizart (4th). A not quite so impressive 4/8 gave Howie72 his 8th spoon of the season.Identical scores, though not identical tips, saw N-Bomb and paper_aero remain out in front (the tie-breaker being in the favour of N-Bomb) and they opened a two point gap over gtho4. At the bottom it is going to depend on whether Davjack makes any more appearances to move off the lower rung.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery though with defaults. |

After a forgettable first half, the Sydney Roosters coasted home in the second half to overcome last place Wests Tigers and remain 3rd in the standings. Brisbane Broncos kept the Gold Coast Titans scoreless in winning their 8th match in a row and keeping a two point lead at the top of the standings. Despite losing four players to injury against the Warriors, Many Sea Eagles put in arguably their best performance of the season to win away, the match dealing the Warriors a double blow with the loss combined with losing their star player for the rest of the season with a broken leg. A very impressive seven try first half was more than enough for the Rabbitohs to trounce the hapless Newcastle Knights by 46 points. The St George Dragons were slayed for the 7th time in a row when they went down to the Storm in Melbourne but have a good chance to break this streak next time at home to Newcastle. In a thrilling and high scoring match, Canberra raided Penrith and after going try for try, sealed the victory with an intercept near the end when the Panthers were throwing everything at them to try and take the win. The Sharks victory over the Bulldogs was the complete opposite to the Penrith/Canberra game, more than a combined error and penalty tally of 50 made it a dour and disjointed affair. Up just 10-4 at half time, North Queensland Cowboys ran away in the second half to deal the Parramatta Eels a demoralising 42 point loss, the winning margin being the Cowboy's largest ever over the Eels.BxBarracuda and Davjack were both running on default fuel this week.Four of the eight matches were tipped correctly by everyone being the Roosters, Broncos, Rabbitohs and Cowboys wins. On the other hand, no one foresaw the Sharks taking a bite out of the Bulldogs. We welcome back Sypher with a bang as he was the only one who knew the Warriors would lose at home to the Sea Eagles.6/8 was enough to give 6 of us a weekly win being wwe84 (7th), paper_aero (5th), illiniman14 (8th), ozzz2002 (7th), Sypher (8th) and Howie72 (7th). The 'game of two halves' cliché struck again as visiting Canberra raided North Queensland in the first half and took a 14 point lead into the break but the Cowboys clicked a switch at half time and run out 8 point winners. Gold Coast Titans dealt with the visiting Paramatta Eels but had to come from behind at half time. West Tigers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season when they comfortably defeated a Melbourne Storm side many places above them in the standings. The Roosters exploded from the beginning to be 22-0 up over the Bulldogs after 25 minutes before Canterbury decided it would be a good idea to compete and took a 28-22 lead with just over 10 minutes to go. The Roosters then showed why they are favourites to take out the title by digging deep and scoring the last 16 points denying what would have been the biggest comeback win in the Bulldog's history. An under-strength Penrith gave Souths a scare but it was the Rabbitohs that prevailed narrowly in the end. Manly's coach was told he would not be wanted next year and the Sea Eagles responded with the best effort of the season in destroying the competition leading Brisbane Broncos. Once again the Warriors let a good lead slip away, this time the Cronulla Sharks being the beneficiaries. The Dragons breathed fire back into their season with a superb second half comeback against Newcastle to break their record 7 match losing streak.BxBarracuda waas running on default fuel this week.We all thought the Dragons would burn the Knights but no one foresaw the Tigers mauling the Storm. Late comebacks prevented paper_aero having a very good round as the Raiders and Bulldogs were overrun late.Once again 6/8 was enough for a weekly win - going to ozzz2002 (8th), gtho4 (competition leading 9th) and Howie72 (8th). The sole spoon went to paper_aero with 3/8.The spoon from paper_aero allowed N-Bomb jump back into the lead by one point and has closed the standings up a bit with the top six separated by just three points. At the bottom Davjack narrows the gap to the absent BxBarracuda to one point.Sypher is the only person who has yet to receive any cutlery though with defaults. |

The Roosters looked like world beaters again when jumping out to a 26-0 half time lead over the Knights which increased to 32-0 just after the break but like last week they went to sleep and the Newcastle comeback was on, too little too late in the end and the Roosters held on for an eighth win in a row. The Warriors season went from bad to worse after being thumped 36-0 in Wellington by the Dragons, a team they have not beaten since 2007. Cronulla continued their late season run of form when outlasting the North Queensland Cowboys and closed in on the top four. Canterbury Bulldogs travelled to Brisbane to take on the Broncos and left with a deserved victory over the competition leaders. Melbourne Storm also kept their top four hopes alive when they stormed home with a six try effort in the second half to overrun Gold Coast. Manly continued their unlikely run to the play-offs with an impressive victory over South Sydney, it was not that long ago they were in last place and now are just outside the top eight on points differential. In a thrilling and topsy-turvy match in Canberra it was the visiting West Tigers that emerged triumphant and almost certainly ended their hosts play-off aspirations. It was a spiteful match with Canberra's Dave Shillington being the first player to be sent off since round 14 in 2013. In a dull and dreary match Parramatta Eels were too slippery for the Penrith Panthers in a low scoring match.BxBarracuda, Davjack and N-Bomb were running on default fuel this week.In a low scoring round we still managed to get two matches perfect, being the Roosters and Storm wins. However, we also failed to get a correct tip in two matches, being the Bulldogs and Tigers victories.Only one of us achieved better than 50% with illiniman14 picking 5/8 for the weekly win. A Handful of spoons went to paper_aero, Dizart ozzz2002, George95 and Sypher with 3/8.N-Bomb failed to lodge any tips and it proved to be the right week to do so as no one caught him so he maintains his one point lead at the top. At the bottom Davjack remains one point the absent BxBarracuda as he was also running on default.Sypher has joined us mere mortals with his first spoon of the season, the last person to fill in that column. |

South Sydney sent out a reminder to the rest of the play-off contenders that they will be ready come September when they put in a dominant performance in beating the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville. The Parrammatta Eels let another game slip away when they went down fighting to the Sydney Roosters who never hit the lead until the last ten minutes. Canterbury Bulldogs triumphed over Gold Coast Titans for the first time in the last five matches between the two sides and the first time in New South Wales since 2007. Newcastle Knights jousted they way to a narrow win over the West Tigers after being behind for all of the first half and in doing so have drawn level on wins with teams at the bottom of the standings with three rounds to go. The wooden spoon battle will be as interesting and close as the battle for the minor premiership. The Manly momentum continued but they left it late, scoring in the second to last minute against the Canberra Raiders with the conversion winning it for them. Not surprising it was so close as we were split 5 and 5 in out tips. The Sharks hopes of a top four finish took a major blow as they were kept tryless at home by the Melbourne Storm. Penrith Panthers snapped a five game losing streak by beating the Warriors which also handed the Warriors a fifth loss in a row after being in the top four not that long ago. Brisbane brushed aside St George Dragons to go back to being outright leaders over North Queensland, the Broncos extending their winning streak over the Dragons to eight games.BxBarracuda and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.Sypher and George95 lodged late tips after the first match had ended.Once again we all tipped two matches perfectly, being the Roosters and Bulldogs (despite the Bulldog's lengthy losing streak mentioned above) wins. Who knew that the Rabbitohs would travel north and beat the Cowboys?. Oh wait, ozzz2002 did. gtho4 was thinking the Dragons would also travel north to beat the Broncos but he was sadly mistaken this time, it was not even close.Sypher did not like last weeks spoon so decided to go for a 9th weekly win and was successful in his endeavours, joined this week by wwe84 (8th) and ozzz2002 (9th) with 6/8. Dizart picks up his 8th spoon to join Howie72 with the most this season. Who will have the most weekly wins and most spoons by the end of the season is anybody's guess.N-Bomb continues to lead by one point over paper_aero and for the first time this season, wwe84 joins the podium in second equal place. Out of these three it is wwe84 that has the best tiebreaker. At the bottom Davjack remains one point behind the absent BxBarracuda as he was also running on default.

For the third time this season Melbourne Storm have lost to the bottom placed team, this time it was the Newcastle Knights who travelled to Melbourne to upset them. Sydney Roosters hosted the Brisbane Broncos in a game between two of the top placed teams and it was the thriller expected but it was the defence of both teams that dominated. The Roosters lost three players to injury during the game but held on to win by two points to take over at the top of the table. Last week the South Sydney Rabbitohs put forward their premiership credentials, this week they crashed back to earth when the Canterbury Bulldogs outmuscled and outplayed them to remind the competition they are still lurking. On paper and form the Many Sea Eages should have continued soaring towards the playoffs but Parrammatta did not realise this as Eels triumphed to put a huge dent in the Sea Eagles play-off dreams. Gold Coast vs Canberra just about had it all, seven tries scored, three players on report, 27 errors made, one player suffering one of the earliest injuries possible when catching the kick-off, one player turning up to the match on a skateboard and another refusing to be substituted near the end. When the final hooter went it was the Titans reigning supreme over the Raiders. The Warriors looked like world beaters when jumping to a 16-0 lead at home to North Queensland but then there was a lengthy injury break that stopped the momentum, after that it was all the Cowboys as they ran in 50 unanswered points, the Warriors going from brilliant to awful just like that. Cronulla Sharks comfortably beat the Wests Tigers and in doing so all but booked a place in the play-offs. Penrith Panthers were the better team for most of the match but it was St George Dragons that picked up the valuable win to keep them ahead of the Sea Eagles in the 8th and final play-off spot.BxBarracuda and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.George95 lodged late tips after the first match had ended.For the first time for a while the two games we all agreed on were the two games we scored 0% success being the Newcastle and Parramatta away wins. Surprisingly only gtho4 thought Brisbane would beat Sydney but unfortunately for him it did not happen that way. It was even worse for Sypher who was the only one to pick both the Warriors and Tigers to win and like ghto4, he came away disappointed. Three weekly winners this week with paper_aero (6th), Dizart (5th) and N-Bomb (8th) all tipping 5/8. Unfortunately for George95, his late tips meant he missed the first match and ended with a spoon by tipping 3/8 along with wwe84, Sypher and gtho4.The top two earned weekly wins, the next two gained spoons. This means N-Bomb remains on top by one point over paper_aero and they have opened a small gap with wwe84 in third place but now two points behind paper_aero. The third podium spot is still up for grabs as three tippers are just one point behind wwe84 with two rounds left. At the bottom Davjack remains one point behind the absent BxBarracuda as he was also running on default.

Sydney Rooster's thumping of Manly achieved a few things. It took them back to the top of the standings, it pretty much ended the Sea Eagles hopes of a play-off spot, almost guaranteed the Dragons will be there, almost ended the Cowboy's hopes of a top two finish and was the biggest win the Roosters have ever achieved over the Sea Eagles at Brookvale. With a wooden spoon looming the Gold Coast Titans left it late but emerged victorious over the St George Dragons to put some breathing space between them and last placed Newcastle. Canberra Raiders farewelled their home fans for the season with an overpowering win aganst the Penrith Panthers for just their third home win in what is usually a fortress. Melbourne Storm bounced back to beat North Queensland at home, now a win in the last round will give them a home elimination final, the loss for the Cowboys means they will finish third no matter what happens next week. Brisbane travelled to South Sydney to put their premiership credentials on the line against the reigning premier Rabbitohs and left the competition in no doubt as to their validity by demolishing the hosts. Canterbury Bulldogs held on to beat Newcastle to leave the Knights in a battle next week against the Panthers with the losers most likely taking home the wooden spoon. The Warriors were awful last week, this week they were woeful and were thrashed 50-16 for the second week in a row, this time by the Wests Cowboys to also give them a little breathing space over Newcastle at the bottom. Cronulla Sharks remained in the top four with a thrilling victory over the Parramatta Eels, a 77th minute field goal proving the difference before a 79th minute try sealed it.BxBarracuda was running on default fuel this week.Davjack lodged late tips after the first match had ended.For the first time for a while the two games we all agreed on were the two games we had a 0% success rate, being the Newcastle and Parramatta away wins. Surprisingly only gtho4 thought Brisbane would beat Sydney but unfortunately for him it did not happen that way and George95 had misguided faith in the Penrith to win away. It was even worse for Sypher who was the only one to pick both the Warriors and Tigers to win and like gtho4 and George95, he came away disappointed. The two weekly winners were the two leaders, N-Bomb (9th) and paper_aero (7th) both tipping 7/8. Spoons this week go to George95 (8th), gtho4 (7th) and Sypher (3rd). What does this all mean for the final week? N-Bomb has a one point lead over paper_aero and the better tie-breaker so paper_aero needs to beat N-Bomb by two points to claim the title. They have a big enough lead over third place so it should be between these two barring a disaster. Third place is also up for grabs with wwe84 and ozzz2002 tied and illiniman14 just one point behind, wwe84 has the better tiebreaker but only just. At the bottom Davjack draws level with BxBarracuda and can avoid the overall wooden spoon by tipping anything other than the lowest score for the round. |

North Queensland head into the play-offs in a positive mood following their 30 point thumping of Gold Coast. The same cannot be said for the Canterbury Bulldogs who struggled against a Warriors side that seemed to like dropping the ball but stole it late with a last minute try. Somehow Canberra managed to beat Parramatta in golden point extra time after some controversial video ref decisions, two late regathers from short kick-offs and a last minute try and sideline conversion to tie it up. Cronulla dominated all aspects of their match against Manly but it was the Sea Eagles that triumphed to deny the Sharks a top four finish. Sydney Roosters showed why they are favourites to take out the title as they demolished a woeful South Sydney to claim the minor premiership. Also stumbling into the play-offs are St George Dragons as they let a 30-8 lead over Wests Tigers with 20 minutes go into a victory in golden point extra time. The wooden spoon went to Newcastle Knights after their loss to the Penrith Panthers. Melbourne Stormed into Brisbane and toppled the Broncos, in doing so earned themselves a play-off life after the Cronulla loss.BxBarracuda and Sypher were running on default fuel this week.We all tipped the Cowboys and Bulldogs victories but no one thought the Broncos would lose at home to the Storm. Dizart was the only one to predict the Sea Eagles win while gtho4 was the only one to be frustrated by the Rabbitohs loss to the Roosters.We end the season with three weekly winners being Dizart, Howie72 and ozzz2002 with 6/8. On the other hand gtho4 ended the season as he started, with the sole spoon after tipping just 3/8.What does this all mean for the final positions I hear you ask. Well, paper_aero managed to outscore N-Bomb by one point to draw level at the top but it was in vain as N-Bomb's superior tie break (+5 vs +1) was enough to secure him the gold medal. The bronze medal was also decided in the final round with ozzz2002 and his weekly win moving into sole third over wwe84. At the bottom, Davjack tipped enough to avoid the spoon and in doing so jumped clear of the absent BxBarracuda.The end of season awards are as follows:
