How, if possible can I tell the person "editing" (and i use the term broadly) something. They keep sending back quizzes with not particularly useful advice such as check spelling when the spelling is correct. If there's something wrong with the quiz that me and my dictionary are missing I'm damned if i can find it. Some form of two way communication would clear things up and not waste any more of their time or more importantly mine.

When you get a rejection notice that you're unclear on, just send a message to the editor asking for clarification of the notice. The notice will have the editor's name attached to it. One way of contacting them is to go into QLand and send a note to them though there.

The editors are more than happy to explain the notice in more detail. Please understand that they see MANY quizzes in a day. Because of this, Terry has provided some generic rejection notices for the editors to us. They are very basic ("Please check your spelling and resubmit the quiz" type things) We use these notices quite frequently, because, if we didn't, it would take about 10 times as long to edit.

But, the editors _will_ go into the quiz and give examples of the errors that they are seeing. All you have to do is ask them. They don't know you need more help unless you let them know!

Just DON'T resubmit the quiz as if you were ignoring the rejection notice. It's the surest way of making the editors look unfavorably on your quiz. You're allowed to disagree with the rejection notice if you feel it's in error, but at least give them the courtesy of communicating that with them.

(I'm going to go ahead and move this thread to the Quizzyland Forum - better to have it in the correct forum where the editors will see it more quickly.)

Linda summed it up pretty well. I just want to add that , when you receive the rejection note, there should be a link at the bottom that you can click on to "Reply." That's the quickest way to respond and ask for clarification.

Editors usually give personal rejection notices, which explains in detail why your quiz is being rejected, and where the errors are.

However, if your quiz has only a quotational error, or only time dependency error, then the editors will more than likely send a pre-written notice.

When I personally send a rejection notice, I usually send the quiz creator a detailed correction note.

Like Linda1 said, if you don't tell us that you're having a problem understanding a rejection notice, then we won't know that you have a problem.

Communication is the key to the whole thing.

I just want to add 'ditto' to what the other people have said. Also, we are SO happy when people ask for clarification instead of just submitting the quiz again with no changes. It makes our day and shows that the quizmakers actually care about their quiz and wanting to try and get it online.

If you can't find anythig wrong with your quiz after checking it closely, don't resummit it, like I did one time. You could end up with another correction. Be sure to tell the editor you can't find the error, so you can correct it.

OOppps! Let me just edit myself-"resubmit". It's very easy not to see a spelling mistake, isn't it?

LOL! It sure is easy to miss spelling errors. Even us editors aren't immune to spelling mistakes. When I make a quiz, besides me taking my own quiz, I usually get my sister to take the quiz and tell me if there is any errors that I may not have seen.

I always try to get my husband, Charlie, to take a quiz first. If I don't, chances are, I'll get that little red correction in my mailbox! Then, I Make him Take it and help me find out where that typo or spelling mistake is!
