After you've finished and saved your quiz you are given the option, at the bottom of the screen, to click a link that will show you how your completed quiz will look.

This is - how can I stress this enough? - an excellent thing for quizmakers, new and veteran, to do!!!

Not enough quizmakers use this useful little link, which is unfortunate because it is so helpful!

Seeing how your completed quiz will look gives you the opportunity to check for typos and other mistakes from a different perspective. You may not believe me, but it is a lot easier to check for errors when you don't have to scroll through the text boxes.

This also allows you to see multiple choice answers in their entirety withought having to scroll from side to side. You would not believe the number of quizzes that are submitted that have multiple choice sets that look like this:

quote:
Q. What time did Joe go to Jane's house?

A) ten pm
B) ten fifteen
C) 11:30
D) nine am

or

quote:
Q. How did Joe know Jane wasn't home?

A) the lights were off
B) She left him a Note on the Coffee Table.
C) she was home
D) she called him

In other words, checking to see how your completed quiz will look lets you see if your multiple choice sets are consistent. In these two cases, the correct answer is easy to spot because it was written in a different format. (I believe this happens because the right answer is written immediately after the question, and some time may elapse before the quizmaker has thought up some good wrong answers and by then has forgotten what format s/he was using. From my experience as an editor, it is always the correct answer that differs.)

The editors have also been encouraged to use this function as a last check before we put quizzes online. It really is an excellent way to spot errors and pick up on other things that should be fixed and altered.

So use the link! Anything that you fix before submitting your quiz is one less thing the editors are going to tell you to fix, and your quiz will go online quicker!

As well as using the suggested link, I also like to actually play my quiz, so that I can check for errors/typos in my 'interesting info' when looking at my 'score' before submitting the quiz. Once again, typos are easier to find when looking at the actual format that appears to the players than in the creation boxes.

Amen to what LC and Liz said. If you correct your errors beforehand, you won't have as many embarrassing correction notes from other players and later on! Also, I find it fun to play my own quizzes--it's like having a book published instantly. You can get to your quizzes by clicking the icon above "Overview." New quizzes are usually at the end somewhere.

Hi Everyone out there in Quizzyland!
I like the fact that this website does have a link for you to go and check your quiz before its put on, it really does give you a chance to see if you have made any typos or anything. I have sent messages to people telling them they have mispelt a word(s), or have left out a letter, or didn't put one in. PLEASE PEOPLE CLICK THAT LINK. If you see mistakes it will give you a chance to edit your own mistakes. You need good proofreading skills. It saves trouble from people having to send messages. Amanda

I read this thread just in time!! I have just completed a quiz and followed your suggestions. I found two errors in the 'additional info' area that needed correcting. Thank you all.

It is a good feature to use.

But you can only use it once? When you saw some typo's, you corrected them and saved your quiz again, the "preview" will remain in the old version I noted.

Is this possible to get all updates in that view somehow?

Wimm that's an excellent question, "je suis tres contente que tu l'aies posée!" as someone you might have heard would say.
I just wanted to reiterate this feature being worth its weight in gold!
I put the wrong name of someone rather, um, famous, and received, shame O shame, 11 correction notices. I want to thank all the young ladies who sent me a message for being very kind! If I'd done it beforehand it would never have happened!

Someone might know the specific answer to your question Wimm.
Once again, to any of you making quizzes, we are making an effort to cut down on fill in the blank answers as they also generate major correction notices, so make your quiz just as good with a multiple choice and check it out with the feature discussed here.
If you'd like help deciding which one to keep, we'll help you. We can usually tell what works and what doesn't.

see you all soon.

wimm --

I've had that problem, too. I think it takes the link a little time to catch up with your corrections.

When you're on the page that the "Click here..." link takes you to, and you don't see the corrections you've made, click on the "Refresh" (Internet Explorer) or "Reload" (Netscape Navigator/Communicator) and they should show up.

American girl, you misspelt "mispelt".

Certainly a good idea to "see how your quiz will look". I recently did some movie reviews on IMDB, and found it interesting that they actually REQUIRE you to see how your review will look before you can submit it. After you go to the "how your review will look" page, only then can you click on the button to submit it.
