What do you do if you receive a message "Your quiz sucks"? I'm only bringing this up because lately, it seems, in my family here, we have gotten some weird rambling messages of late, and ones picking quizzes apart for no good reason at all. The vast majority of these are coming from people who are not quizmakers, and it has just been recently. It is very discouraging.

This is the best trivia site on the internet, and if people can't be civil (it's free for them to play!), maybe they should try somewhere else if the quizzes "Suck".

If the message was a correction, the editors will see it and can then take appropriate action.

If the message wasn't a correction, we won't see it. You can let us know here about the infraction- we do have little tolerance for this kind of thing. We'll need the quiz name so we can look at the notes.

I'm sorry you're getting messages like that, Linda. We don't tolerate rude notes like that here, but we have to know about them to take care of them. What you should do is send a note to your category editor, telling who sent the note and on what quiz of yours (giving the quiz id number is best). If the note is sent as a compliment (!), a suggestion, or a direct message, don't delete it until your category editor has had a chance to see it; if it's a correction notice, you can click "Not an Error" to get it out of your mailbox and we'll still be able to find it.

The category editor will review the note and send a warning to the offending player. If said player keeps sending nasty and uncalled for messages, or if the original message is very obscene, the player's account will be deleted.

You're right - if they hate the quizzes that much, they should play somewhere else. Your notifying us, and our deleting them, will help them on their way.

The reason we felt this should be brought up in open forum, is that we are truly a "family" of quizmakers here--in many, many catergories, and that if we have been having these types of messages, other quizmakers are, too.

In the past, our way of dealing with this has been to delete and forget. But it really is increasing. It it ever hapens in my family again, it will be reported.

Anyone taking any of our quizzes will always receive a courteous response, if they wil be commonly polite.

And, if this has been happening to other quizmakers, please follow Cellardoors' advice.

When I myself edit I look at the notes people send to the quizmaker and the way the person responds. I intervene when I see someone saying something even much less offensive than the one you've just cited.
Bear in mind that people can get ejected from the site like your Beloved James Bond for writing notes like that.
But in this case, I think any of us editors would like to be informed of this so that we can see if anyone else is receiving offensive notes from the same people.
We appreciate your presence here in the forums and in quizzyland and you represent the type of family we work hard to keep the site going.
Send any of the editors a pm if you'd like.

I received 11 correction notices on my last quiz, I mixed up a name, and thank goodness several people were so kind that I made an effort to say, "Thanks so much for telling me nicely! How could I possibly have mixed up that name?"
That was my first time getting so many notices.

Heather, Thank you so much, and you will soon get a reply to the very nice PM you sent about this matter.

I know that the people who post in the forums are not in anyway the problem--and the ones who are will never read this. But:

Remember if you send corrections, messages, etc. to a quizmaker, a real, feeling person is going to read it. A lot of effort goes in making a quiz (you will find this out if you try making one yourself), so be nice. We will Not answer you back if you are rude --and if it's Over-the-top-we will turn you in.
