1. paper_aero 2. BxBarracuda 3. George95
paper_aero storms to victory by picking 3 of the top 4, only missing out on Justin Rose. His performance very nearly matched Justin Spieth’s, as nobody really seemed to have a chance to match him. Congratulations!
BxBarracuda’s top 3 golfers matched paper_aero’s, but Matt Kuchar failed to live up to expectations, leaving him 6 strokes back of the winner. George95 got 2 of the top 3, but his next 2 golfers let him down, leaving him back in third place.
The tournament itself was over from the beginning. Jordan Spieth was 1 away from the course record on Thursday, and kept on the gas all the way through. His Friday 66 put him up 5 on the field going into the weekend. By the end, he tied Tiger’s record of -18 over the tournament, cruising to victory by 4 strokes.
Charley Hoffman was really the only other leader to speak of in the tournament, thanks to the fact he teed off before Spieth on Thursday. He finished the first day -5, but still found himself 3 shots back at the end of the day. He was paired with Spieth on Saturday, but couldn’t gain any ground and ended tied for 9th.
Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose tied for 2nd at -14, but neither made a serious run at the lead. Rose was -15, but the closest he got was 3 strokes before bogeying the final hole. Mickelson required an eagle on #15 to finish as close as he did.
Those tippers that did not choose Spieth as one of their fivesome didn’t fair too badly for the most part. gtho4, Sypher, and N-Bomb finished in order from (tied for) 6th, 8th, and 9th. However, ozzz2002 ended in last with his very multi-national team.
There were questions leading up to the tournament on whether Tiger Woods would even be able to play at the Masters. He ended up doing so, and impressed many by finishing tied for 17th at -5. His Sunday took a turn when he popped a wrist bone out of place after hitting a root on #9, but he popped it right back in and played the back 9 even par.
The U.S. Open will be held June 18-21 at Chambers Bay in Washington. We’ll see you there!

Congratulations to those finishing on the podium. You scored better than Jordan Spieth. Also, many thanks to illiniman for running the comp.
